Umbraco is an open source .NET content management system with something most open source platforms lack: a structured, audited partner network.
Agencies move through Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, and a smaller group is recognised each year as Contributing Partners for giving real engineering time back to the core project. That structure makes an Umbraco agency far easier to verify than a generic web development shop, because the tier is published by Umbraco rather than claimed by the agency.
The twelve companies below are all verified Umbraco partners, checked against the official partner directory and against their own published work in September 2026. They range from pure Umbraco specialists that build on nothing else, to multi platform consultancies where Umbraco sits alongside Sitecore or Optimizely. That distinction matters more than headcount when you are choosing, so it is called out for each one.

Cantarus is a Contributing Platinum Partner and describes itself as the first agency to hold Platinum status in both the UK and the US, with offices in Manchester, London, Washington DC and Moldova. Three Umbraco MVPs sit on a team of more than 75 specialists, which is an unusually high concentration of top tier platform recognition for an agency of that size.
The client base leans heavily toward membership organisations and regulated bodies, including the British Army, the British Medical Association, the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Youth Sport Trust. They hold ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and Cyber Essentials Plus, and are a UK Crown Commercial supplier, which is what makes them viable for public sector procurement where most agencies are ruled out on paperwork alone.
Moriyama has been a Platinum Partner since 2012 and has collected Contributing Partner recognition every year from 2020 through 2025, along with Umbraco Cloud Powerhouse status. What sets them apart in this list is focus: they sell no competing CMS. If you want a partner whose commercial interests are entirely aligned with the platform you have chosen, this is the shortest route to one.
The team includes Umbraco Masters and MVPs, and they maintain a public Umbraco organisation on GitHub rather than keeping their contributions private. Published work includes Girlguiding, Sir Robert McAlpine, SEFE Energy and The Access Group, and they hold a place on the UK G-Cloud framework for public sector buying.
ClerksWell has been trading since 1997 and became a Platinum Partner in 2021. Its most checkable credential is a person rather than a badge: Paul Seal, a nine time Umbraco MVP, leads the practice, and the agency turns that depth into a productised Umbraco training service as well as build work.
The published case study library runs past twenty named clients, including the Royal College of Surgeons, Smart Energy GB, Drax Power, Great Western Railway, Aviva, the Pension Protection Fund and the Rural Payments Agency. They are ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certified, with colleagues in the UK, India and Ukraine. Worth knowing before you shortlist: they also build on Sitecore and Optimizely, so Umbraco is one of three platforms rather than the only one.
Umbraco itself describes True Digital as a founding Platinum Partner, which puts them in the original top tier cohort rather than among later arrivals. Founded in 2004 and based in Bristol, they run a team of more than 35 strategic, creative and technical specialists, and have held Contributing Platinum recognition in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Their work skews toward recognisable consumer and regional brands: St Austell Brewery, South West Water, Aardman, Viridor, Wealthify, Parmenion and Cribbs Causeway. Note that a separate and unrelated US agency also trades as True Digital, so confirm you are talking to the Bristol firm before a procurement conversation goes far.
Shout Digital has been an Umbraco partner since 2015 and claims the specific, datable distinction of being the first UK agency to reach Contributing Platinum, a status it has held in 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Newcastle team specialises in multi site Umbraco architecture and complex integrations for organisations operating under regulatory scrutiny.
Named clients include Northumbrian Water, Affinity Water, Newcastle Airport and Novuna. Unusually, they sell Umbraco audit and upgrade as a standalone engagement rather than only as part of a rebuild, which suits organisations sitting on an ageing Umbraco estate that is not yet due for replacement. They also hold Sitecore Silver Partner status.
Manifesto is the largest pure agency on this list at roughly 130 creatives, technologists and strategists, and it reached Contributing Platinum in 2025 after three consecutive years at Contributing Gold. It is part of TPXimpact and a certified B Corporation.
No other agency here comes close on charity and cultural sector depth. The published roster includes UNICEF UK, Breast Cancer Now, Blood Cancer UK, the Zoological Society of London, Kew Gardens, the Royal Academy, Royal Collection Trust, Historic Environment Scotland, RNIB and the Disaster Emergency Committee. Umbraco’s own partner profile highlights their custom editing experience work, and they run an ongoing Umbraco technical blog rather than treating the platform as back office plumbing.
Bath based Digital Wonderlab became a Platinum Partner in 2022 and is one of the few agencies at that tier to productise Umbraco Engage, the personalisation and analytics layer, as a named service rather than an afterthought. They also sell an Umbraco specific AI services line.
Certified as a B Corporation, they market low carbon web delivery and accessibility as explicit service lines, which is a genuine filter if either sits in your procurement criteria. Published clients include the Apex Group, the University of Oxford Department of Engineering Science and One Dance UK. Their client list is thinner than others at this tier, so ask for references in your own sector.
GrowCreate has held Platinum status since 2014, one of the longest unbroken runs in the directory, and claims both Umbraco MVP and Umbraco Certified Masters designations on staff. The Oxfordshire team works in house and publishes a 99.95 percent uptime commitment alongside more than 250 delivered projects.
Financial services is the clear centre of gravity, with named work for Quintet Private Bank, Mortgage Advice Bureau, Flagstone and FE fundinfo, plus AI driven content localisation for Mercedes-Benz. They hold ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials. They are also a Kentico, Optimizely and Storyblok partner, so confirm early which platform a proposal is actually built around.
This Is Embrace reached Platinum in 2024, making it the newest arrival at that tier on this list, but the commitment behind it is dated and specific: the agency has built new sites on nothing but Umbraco since 2016. It runs offices in London and Bath.
Like Digital Wonderlab, they treat Umbraco Engage as a named capability covering personalisation, analytics and A/B testing, which relatively few partners package up. Published clients include the Office of the Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, Trivium Packaging and Vacherin. With only a handful of case studies public, ask to see work closer to your own scale.
Infocaster has worked with Umbraco since 2009 and became a Platinum Partner in 2022, with Umbraco noting that the agency exceeds the tier requirements on certified developers. The team is deliberately small at roughly 25 people, based in Arnhem.
Their differentiator is WCAG digital accessibility, which is not a nice to have in the Netherlands where public bodies are legally obliged to meet it. Published work includes Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe, an accessibility focused platform for IMG, and a virtual international office built for ROC. The site is primarily Dutch, which limits how much an English speaking buyer can self serve before making contact.
Blend Interactive is the strongest United States entry here, Platinum since 2021 and holding Contributing Platinum in 2024 and 2025. Umbraco credits the agency specifically for code contributions, package development and documentation, which is a harder credential than a tier badge because it reflects work the community can inspect.
Operating from Sioux Falls since around 2003, they sell Development Coaching as a productised service, training a client’s own engineers rather than only building for them. That suits an organisation that intends to keep Umbraco in house long term. Named clients include Cherry Bekaert, the South Dakota Unified Judicial System and Minnesota State University Mankato. They are also an Optimizely Platinum partner and a Contentstack partner, so Umbraco is one practice among several.
Luminary is the obvious choice for Australian and wider APAC delivery. Independently owned since 1999 and headquartered in Melbourne, it became a Platinum Partner in 2021 and has held Contributing Partner status in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Two Umbraco Certified Masters and two Umbraco MVPs give it one of the densest concentrations of senior Umbraco certification outside Europe.
Named work includes the Melbourne Cricket Club and MCG, Melbourne Airport, Clipsal by Schneider Electric and BYD. They have been a certified B Corporation since 2021. One caveat: Luminary sells Sitecore, Kentico, Optimizely and a full composable stack alongside Umbraco, so they are a platform agnostic consultancy rather than an Umbraco house.
Umbraco reassesses tiers annually, and the yearly Contributing Partner badge is separate from the base Silver, Gold or Platinum level. An agency can hold Platinum without contributing anything back to the core project. Check the current listing in Umbraco’s own partner directory rather than accepting a badge on an agency website, and ask specifically whether the Contributing status is current or historical.
This is the sharpest dividing line in the list above. Moriyama, Digital Wonderlab, This Is Embrace, Infocaster and Manifesto build on Umbraco and little else. ClerksWell, Shout Digital, GrowCreate, Blend Interactive and Luminary also sell Sitecore, Kentico, Optimizely or headless platforms. Neither is wrong, but a multi platform consultancy has a commercial reason to recommend a replatform that a specialist does not, and a specialist has deeper bench strength on the platform you already run.
These are different products and not every agency sells all three well. Shout Digital packages Umbraco audit and upgrade as a standalone engagement. Blend Interactive sells coaching for teams that want to run the platform themselves. GrowCreate and This Is Embrace publish 24/7 support arrangements. If your Umbraco estate is functional but ageing, an upgrade specialist will cost far less than a rebuild agency that quotes a rebuild by default.
If you are a public body, a regulated financial institution or a healthcare organisation, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials and framework listings will filter your shortlist before capability does. Cantarus, ClerksWell and GrowCreate all publish ISO 27001. Cantarus holds Crown Commercial supplier status and Moriyama is on G-Cloud. Infocaster carries Dutch accessibility certification. Establish the compliance floor before you evaluate portfolios, not after.
Umbraco Engage adds personalisation, analytics and A/B testing on top of the core CMS, and it is a meaningfully different skill set. Digital Wonderlab and This Is Embrace both name it as a productised service. If personalisation is on your roadmap within eighteen months, choosing a partner who has already shipped Engage work saves you a second procurement round later.
Umbraco’s partner tiers make this an easier shortlist to build than most CMS categories, because Platinum status is published and audited rather than self declared. The real decision is not which agency is most decorated but whether you want a specialist with no competing platform in the bag, or a consultancy that can move you across platforms later if the business case changes. Settle that question first, then use tier, contribution record and sector experience to narrow the field.
