To opt out of Nuwber, find your profile on nuwber.com, click “View Details” and copy the profile URL, then paste it into the official removal page at nuwber.com/removal/link, enter an email address and click the “Confirm request” link Nuwber emails you. The opt-out is free and takes about 15 minutes. Removal is usually complete within about 48 hours, and each profile URL needs its own request.
Nuwber (nuwber.com) is a US people search site operated by Nuwber Inc. It launched in 2015 and lets anyone search by name, phone number or address. Basic profiles are free to view without signing up, which is why “is Nuwber free” is such a common search: the free profile already shows enough to locate someone, and the site then upsells a paid background report.
Nuwber is registered as a data broker in several states, including Vermont, Oregon and Texas. Third-party removal guides cite a database of roughly 300 million people and more than 2 million Nuwber profiles indexed in Google, which is why a Nuwber page so often appears near the top when you search your own name.
One piece of background is worth knowing before you choose how to remove yourself. In March 2024, KrebsOnSecurity reported that Dimitri Shelest, the founder of the paid removal service OneRep, had founded Nuwber in 2015. Shelest then confirmed he holds an ownership stake in Nuwber while saying there is no information sharing between the two companies (KrebsOnSecurity). You do not need any paid service to opt out of Nuwber; the free route below works on its own.
Nuwber compiles profiles from records that are already public or commercially available, then links them together under your name. Typical sources for sites of this kind include:
You did not need to sign up for anything to appear. That is also why opting out once does not stop the underlying records from existing; it only stops Nuwber from displaying the profile it built.
| Free profile (no sign-up) | Paid report |
| Full name and age or date of birth | Aliases and usernames |
| Current and past addresses | Full residence history |
| Phone numbers | Court records, evictions, foreclosures |
| Email addresses | Criminal records and traffic tickets |
| Relatives and marital status | Business records, education and work history |
| Neighbors | Liens, judgments and bankruptcies |
| Property information | Photos and social profiles |
The free layer is the one to worry about most, because anyone can see it in seconds. Opting out removes the profile, and with it both the free view and the paid report built from it.
These steps follow Nuwber’s official removal flow as documented in several current 2026 walkthroughs. Nuwber blocks automated access, so we could not submit a live test request while writing this guide; if a button label differs slightly, follow the same order.
| Step | Action | Where |
| 1 | Search your name, city and state | nuwber.com |
| 2 | Click “View Details” on your listing (not “Get Full Report”) | Search results |
| 3 | Copy the profile URL from the address bar | Your profile page |
| 4 | Open “Remove My Info” in the footer | nuwber.com/removal/link |
| 5 | Paste the URL and click “Opt Out” | Removal page |
| 6 | Enter an email address and click “Remove” | Removal page |
| 7 | Open Nuwber’s email and click “Confirm request” | Your inbox |
Go to nuwber.com and search under the Person tab with your first and last name, plus city and state. If prompted, accept the terms to see results. If your name is common, use the Phone or Address tab instead, which usually lands on the right record faster.
Check the age, past cities and relatives to confirm it is you, then click the “View Details” button. Ignore the “Get Full Report” button: it leads to a paid report flow, not the profile you need.
Copy the full URL from the browser’s address bar. This is what Nuwber uses to identify the record.
Scroll to the footer of the profile and click “Remove My Info” under Help, or go straight to nuwber.com/removal/link. This is the official Nuwber opt-out page. Avoid look-alike “Nuwber opt out official” pages run by third parties that ask for more than a URL and an email.
Paste the profile URL into the first field (it may already be filled in if you came from the footer link) and click “Opt Out.”
Review the details Nuwber shows to make sure it is the right record, enter an email address and click “Remove.” Use a separate privacy email if you have one; Nuwber only needs it for the confirmation link.
Open the email from Nuwber and click “Confirm request.” Without this click the request is not processed. Check spam if it does not arrive within a few minutes. A confirmation screen then says your information will be removed. Screenshot it and note the date.
Each Nuwber profile has its own URL and needs its own request. Search again by each old phone number and address, and by maiden names or initials, and repeat steps 2 to 7 for every duplicate.
| Route | When to use it |
| Online removal link (above) | Default for everyone; fastest |
| State privacy rights request (California CCPA and similar laws in other states) | You want deletion of all data Nuwber holds, not just suppression of a public profile |
| California DROP | California residents: one free request to every registered data broker at privacy.ca.gov/drop |
| Protected-person request by email, phone or mail | You are covered by an address confidentiality program or have a safety order and need Nuwber to act on documents |
California’s DROP platform opened to residents in January 2026. Registered data brokers had to begin processing requests on 1 August 2026 and must check DROP at least every 45 days. Nuwber’s California registration status was not confirmed at the time of writing, so California residents should do the direct Nuwber opt-out as well rather than rely on DROP alone.
| Stage | Typical time |
| Submitting one request | About 5 minutes |
| Confirmation email link | Arrives within minutes; click it the same day |
| Profile removed from Nuwber | Usually within 48 hours of confirming, often sooner |
| Google result disappears | Days to weeks; faster with a Google removal request |
| California DROP deletion | Up to 45-day processing cycles; status can take up to 90 days to update |
"your name" nuwber. If a stale snippet still shows, submit the URL to Google’s Refresh Outdated Content tool.If the profile is still live after a week, submit the request again and keep the second confirmation. Then send a short written privacy request referencing both dates.
Nuwber’s opt-out does not reach any other site. The same records feed many free people search sites, and these are the ones that most often appear alongside a Nuwber result:
| Site | Overlap | Guide |
| Whitepages | Addresses, phones, relatives | Whitepages opt out |
| TruePeopleSearch | Free address and phone history | TruePeopleSearch opt out |
| ClustrMaps | Address pages, neighbors, phones | ClustrMaps opt out |
| FamilyTreeNow | Relatives and address history | FamilyTreeNow opt out |
| ThatsThem | Phones, emails, addresses | ThatsThem opt out |
| Acxiom | Upstream marketing data sold to many brokers | Acxiom opt out |
| FastPeopleSearch, Spokeo, BeenVerified, PeopleFinders, MyLife | Overlapping profiles | Opt out on each site |
Nuwber has also run country versions of the site in the past (KrebsOnSecurity found domains such as nuwber.fr and nuwber.dk, now defunct). If you live outside the US, search your name plus “nuwber” to check for any regional page.
Nuwber updates its database regularly. An opt-out suppresses the profile you submitted, but a new profile can appear when:
To keep it off:
| Factor | DIY | Paid service |
| Cost | Free | Roughly $80 to $250 per person per year |
| Nuwber alone | 15 minutes | Included in most plans |
| All brokers | Many hours, repeated several times a year | About 15 minutes of setup |
| Relisting | You track it | Rescans and resubmits |
| Independence | No third party involved | Check who owns the service and which brokers it covers |
For Nuwber alone, DIY is quick and reliable. If your name appears on ten or more broker sites, compare providers in our guide to the top personal data removal services and our head-to-head of DeleteMe vs Incogni. Given the ownership history above, look for a provider with no stake in the brokers it removes you from.
Most failed Nuwber removals come down to a handful of avoidable problems. Use this table before you resubmit.
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
| The removal page says the URL is invalid | You copied a search results URL or a paid report URL | Open the profile with “View Details” and copy that page’s URL |
| No confirmation email | Spam filtering or a typo in the address | Check spam and promotions, then resubmit with another address |
| The confirmation link does nothing | Link opened in a different browser or after a long delay | Submit again and click the new link straight away |
| Profile still live after a week | Request never confirmed, or a duplicate profile | Compare the URL with your log; resubmit and keep both confirmation dates |
| A new profile appeared after removal | New address, phone or name variant | Treat it as a new record and opt it out separately |
| Google still shows your details | Cached snippet | Use Refresh Outdated Content once the profile returns an error |
If the online route keeps failing, or you live in a state with a consumer privacy law and want deletion rather than suppression, send a short written request through the contact options on Nuwber’s privacy page. Keep it brief and factual. A template you can adapt:
Subject: Data Deletion Request
I am requesting that Nuwber delete the personal information it holds about me and remove the following profile from public view: [profile URL]. I submitted an opt-out through nuwber.com/removal/link on [date] and confirmed it by email, but the profile is still visible. I am a resident of [state] and make this request under [state law, for example the California Consumer Privacy Act]. Please confirm when the request is complete. Name as shown on the profile: [name]. Contact email: [email].
Only include the details already shown on the profile. Do not send a copy of a driver’s license or Social Security number unless Nuwber’s reply explains why it is needed and the law in your state requires verification. Save a copy of what you sent and the date.
State privacy laws generally give a business 45 days to respond to a deletion request, with a possible extension. If you get no reply, you can report the issue to your state attorney general’s consumer protection office.
Yes. The official route is nuwber.com/removal/link, reached from the “Remove My Info” link in Nuwber’s footer. It is free and needs only your profile URL and an email address.
Nuwber is a real, state-registered people search company operated by Nuwber Inc. It is legal in the US because it republishes public and commercially available records, but you do not have to accept being listed.
From public records such as property, court and license filings, from phone directories and from commercial data files, which it links together by name and address.
Basic profiles are free to view without an account. Detailed background reports cost money.
Check spam and promotions folders and any filter rules. If nothing arrives within an hour, submit the request again with a different email address.
Usually up to 48 hours after you click the confirmation link. Google can keep showing a cached snippet for longer.
Yes. Each profile URL is a separate record. Search by every past address and phone number to find duplicates.
No. Every people search site has its own opt-out, including Whitepages, TruePeopleSearch, ClustrMaps, FamilyTreeNow and ThatsThem.
