Searching for web design Melbourne businesses can rely on quickly turns up dozens of studios, many of which are based interstate or overseas and simply have a Melbourne landing page. This list is limited to agencies that show a genuine Melbourne base on their own website and describe web design as a core service.
We read each agency’s own site and kept only what it states: location, platforms, partner status and named clients. Where a site did not give a founding year or badge, we left it out rather than guess. Firms are ordered by strength of fit and evidence, not alphabetically. The right web design agency Melbourne teams hire depends on your platform, budget and whether you need ongoing care after launch. For wider local help, see our Melbourne services hub, or compare options in our guides to WordPress developers in Melbourne and app development companies in Melbourne.

Prosper Digital runs a Melbourne studio on Wilson Street, South Yarra, with a second office in Surry Hills, Sydney. Its website says it has worked with clients since 2017 and lists Platinum Shopify Partner status and recognition as a Shopify Plus agency, as well as a Shopify Build Award for 2026.
The offer is built around ecommerce: conversion audits and A/B testing, Shopify Plus store design, custom themes, headless builds, integrations and migrations from Magento, WooCommerce and BigCommerce, plus support after launch. Named clients on the site include Mattel, Nike, Open Colleges, Sushi Sushi and the Australian Open.
It suits growing retail brands that already sell online and want a specialist Shopify partner rather than a generalist studio.
Digital Bridge works from Smith Street, Fitzroy, and states that it was founded in 1997, which makes it one of the longer-running web businesses in Melbourne. Its services cover web design, custom development including Laravel, ecommerce and content management systems, website management, and web marketing.
The portfolio on the site names Booked Out, Amotiv, Bentons Specify, Optimal Group, Remunerator and Cheetham Salt, and client logos include Mind Australia, Penrite Oil and ACIL Allen. The agency describes its results as award-winning but names no specific awards, so we have not repeated that claim.
It suits established businesses with bespoke requirements, such as portals or integrations, that outgrow a template build.
Enterprise Monkey lists an office at William Street in the Melbourne CBD and another in North Geelong. The site says the company started in a Geelong garage in 2014 and now states ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certification, along with a Great Place to Work listing.
It builds on Drupal, WordPress, Magento, Joomla, WooCommerce and Shopify, and also develops web applications and mobile apps. Founder awards listed on the site include Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Geelong Business Excellence Awards.
That security certification matters to organisations with procurement rules or sensitive data. It suits mid-sized and larger clients who need a development partner with formal processes.
Dot The i Studio has its Melbourne office on Docklands Drive and a second office in Dunedin, New Zealand. The website identifies it as a Webflow Certified Partner, and its work centres on bespoke Webflow sites, Webflow and Shopify integrations, and an ongoing post-launch service it calls Website Evolution.
Clients named on its Melbourne page include Pando Society, Ready Vet Go and Jim’s Removals, with Theo’s Fisheries shown as a featured project.
A Webflow build gives marketing teams a visual editor without the plugin upkeep of some WordPress sites. This studio suits start-ups, professional services firms and small brands that want a polished marketing site they can edit themselves.
Atollon is based on Argyle Street, Fitzroy. Its Melbourne page describes custom Shopify design and development, branding, UX and UI design, store setup, conversion and SEO work, point-of-sale integration and ongoing maintenance.
Projects named on the site include PPHH, Future Fur, Shadey, American Optical, Pan After, Rivvia and Double Monk, which points to a focus on direct-to-consumer and independent brands. The site does not list a Shopify partner badge or founding year, so we do not claim either.
It suits ecommerce start-ups and boutique brands that want design and branding handled by the same team as the store build, close to the inner-north creative scene.
Lucky Boy’s studio is on Rokeby Street, Collingwood. The agency designs in Figma and builds on Shopify, WordPress or Next.js, with phases from discovery and information architecture through to launch and care. It also handles migrations from WordPress, Squarespace, Wix and Webflow.
Unusually, it publishes pricing: brochure sites are listed from $8,000 to $20,000, custom brand-and-website scopes start at $25,000, and care plans run from $300 to $1,200 a month. Featured web work includes Capricorn Distilling Co, Vantage Asset Management, ROADBOSS and HVIA.
Because the numbers are public, it suits buyers who want to know the budget band before booking a call.
Fox & Lee lists a ground-floor office on St Kilda Road and describes itself as a Melbourne web design and digital marketing agency with 17 or more years of experience. It lists Google Certified status on its site.
Its web work spans WooCommerce and Shopify stores, WordPress design, custom builds, migrations, and niche pages for vets and tradies, backed by WordPress care plans. Case studies include DOMO, a furniture ecommerce site, and Coffeeteca. The agency also offers SEO and Google Ads management, so it can look after the site after launch.
It suits small and medium businesses, including trades and clinics, that want one team for the website and basic search visibility.
Confetti Design says it is based in Melbourne with a focus on the Bayside area, and is led by founder Johannah Barton. It states more than ten years of experience, though no founding year is shown. The site lists no street address.
It builds small business sites on WordPress or Shopify, WooCommerce stores, and offers website care plans and custom software work. The portfolio names Landart Landscapes, Sunguard Australia, Haven Legal, Bayside Medical Aesthetics and Smartease, among others, and the site reports a 5.0 Google rating from just over 100 reviews.
It suits local service businesses and small retailers in the south-east who want a personal, owner-led relationship.
WebSplash Digital lists an address on Glasshouse Way, Truganina, in Melbourne’s west, and describes itself as a 100 per cent Australian owned web design company. The site shows around 100 Google reviews and a Trustindex verified badge, and does not claim platform partner status.
Services include WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento websites, maintenance, SEO, Google Ads, logo design and content writing. Client logos include Christian Cole Furniture, Apt Mortgages and Kebab Empire.
The range is wide, so it suits small businesses in the western suburbs and beyond that want a lower-cost build with design, maintenance and basic marketing from one provider.
Match the platform to how you will use the site. Shopify suits stores that sell mainly online. WordPress and WooCommerce offer flexibility and a large developer pool. Webflow gives marketing teams a visual editor with fewer plugins to maintain. Ask each agency why it recommends a platform and what the long-term costs will be, including themes, apps, hosting and licences.
Partner programmes from Shopify, Webflow and Google show that an agency has completed training or delivered projects, but they are not a guarantee of quality. Check the badge in the vendor’s own partner directory where one exists, and look at live client sites rather than screenshots. Treat unverified awards with caution.
In Melbourne, a simple brochure site often costs several thousand dollars, while custom ecommerce or application builds run into tens of thousands. Ask for a written scope with fixed deliverables, a payment schedule tied to milestones, and a clear price for revisions. Quotes that are far below the rest often leave out content, SEO setup or training.
Confirm in the contract that you own the domain, design files, content and code you paid for, and that you hold the admin logins. Under Australian copyright law, the creator can own the work unless it is assigned in writing. Ask how hosting is billed and how to move the site if you leave.
Websites need security updates, backups and fixes. Ask whether the agency offers a care plan, what it covers, the monthly cost and the response time for faults. Check the warranty period for bugs after launch and how changes to your content or features will be quoted.
Melbourne has strong options at every size. Prosper Digital suits Shopify-led retail brands, Dot The i Studio is built for Webflow marketing sites, and Digital Bridge and Enterprise Monkey bring depth to custom and larger projects. Smaller studios such as Lucky Boy, Atollon and Confetti Design suit brands and owners who want a closer working relationship.
Shortlist two or three agencies, ask each for relevant live examples and a written scope, and compare the answers rather than the headline price. If your project involves a mobile app or a WordPress plugin build, see our list of WordPress developers in Melbourne, or browse the Melbourne services hub. Agencies can submit their company for consideration.
