Top Cryptocurrency Payment Gateways In 2026

The best cryptocurrency payment gateway is the one that matches your checkout stack and your treasury plan: broad coin and network coverage for customers, auto-conversion so you are not carrying price risk, and settlement into the currency your books run on. CoinGate, NOWPayments and BitPay lead our 2026 ranking because they combine all three with mature plugins and published fees.

We judged each crypto payment gateway on six things a merchant actually feels: how many coins and networks customers can pay with, whether incoming payments can be auto-converted to stablecoins or fiat, which settlement options exist (crypto, stablecoins, bank transfer), how many ready-made plugins and APIs are available, how clearly fees are published, and what compliance framework sits behind the service. Details come from each provider’s own site or official announcements as of October 2026; where a figure is not published, we say so.

If you are still deciding how to take crypto at all, start with our guide to how to accept crypto payments as a business. If you want a branded checkout you can resell to your own merchants, our ranking of the best white label payment gateways covers that route.

How To Choose A Cryptocurrency Payment Gateway

Which Coins And Networks Do Your Customers Actually Use?

Look at what your buyers hold before you look at headline coin counts. Most volume runs through BTC, ETH, USDT and USDC, so check which stablecoin networks are supported. NOWPayments and B2BinPay cover the long tail, while Triple-A and Coinbase Business focus on stablecoins.

    Do You Need Auto-Conversion?

If you price in fiat and do not want to hold volatile assets, auto-conversion is essential. Check whether the gateway converts to stablecoins, to fiat, or both, and what it charges for the conversion step. PassimPay lists a 0.2% conversion fee, OpenNode converts for free, and NOWPayments adds a charge on top of its base rate.

How Do You Want To Settle?

Decide whether you want crypto, stablecoins or a bank transfer at the end of the day. BitPay settles in seven fiat currencies, CoinGate in EUR, USD and GBP, PassimPay in EUR over SEPA for legal entities, and OpenNode in eight currencies.

Does It Plug Into Your Store?

A crypto payment gateway is only as quick to launch as its plugin for your platform. WooCommerce, Magento and PrestaShop are widely covered. Shopify support varies: NOWPayments, PassimPay and OpenNode list it, while CoinGate requires a custom API build.

    What Will You Really Pay?

Compare the full cost, not only the headline rate. Add the processing fee, the conversion fee, withdrawal or payout fees and network fees.

    Who Regulates It?

Licensing affects who can sign up and how safe your balances are. CoinGate holds a MiCA licence, BitPay a New York BitLicense, Triple-A a MAS licence, and BVNK EMI licences in the UK and Malta. Ask which entity will contract with you.

    Conclusion

For most online merchants, CoinGate is the best crypto payment gateway in 2026 thanks to its MiCA licence, fiat settlement and published 1% fee. NOWPayments wins on coin coverage, BitPay on fiat settlement breadth, and PassimPay on flat B2B pricing with EUR settlement and a dedicated account manager.

Larger businesses focused on stablecoins should look at Triple-A and BVNK, bitcoin-only merchants at OpenNode, and US or Singapore companies already using Coinbase at Coinbase Business. Shortlist two or three and run a test payment through each.
