Compare 10 AI engineering teams for regulated industries with fintech, healthcare and insurance case studies and ISO 27001, SOC 2 or ISO 13485 credentials.
Banks, insurers, health systems and RegTech firms cannot hand AI work to just any developer. Auditors will ask where data lives, who can see it, how a model’s decision can be explained and which security standard the vendor follows. This list covers AI engineering teams for regulated industries that combine real delivery in fintech, healthcare or insurance with security and quality credentials you can check.
Our rule for this list was strict: we only state a certification or audit if the firm publishes it on its own website, and we say so when a firm describes compliance work rather than a formal certificate. We checked every company in October 2026. Always ask for the current certificate before signing. For a wider view of the healthcare market, see our list of AI for healthcare implementation companies.

Twistag is a Lisbon applied AI company founded in 2016 with a senior team of more than 25 people. Its strongest regulated reference is a RegTech platform for a European startup serving the cosmetics industry. Twistag designed a shared data model for raw materials, suppliers, formulations and regulatory documents, then built four agents on it, including a regulatory inquiry agent that cites sources and flags items for human review. Time per regulatory inquiry fell 75 percent, and the platform runs at three of the top ten European cosmetic brands.
For financial services, Twistag builds KYC onboarding, alert review and regulatory check agents where compliance officers approve every risk-flagged decision. It assigns an EU AI Act risk class to each agent before launch and documents setups for DORA resilience reviews. Health data is treated as special-category data under GDPR and stays in the client’s cloud. Twistag says its delivery follows ISO 27001 controls; its site does not claim a certificate, so ask for its current status.
N-iX is headquartered in Malta and has more than 2,400 engineers across ten countries, with roughly 24 years of delivery. Its site states ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant, and shows ISO 9001:2015. It earned the AWS AI Services Competency in March 2026 and reports more than 50 AI projects.

N-iX fits buyers who need a large, certified engineering partner for regulated platforms where AI is one part of a wider build.
In regulated work, the vendor becomes part of your audit trail. These questions help you test a partner before your compliance team does.
A badge on a website is a starting point. Ask for the current ISO 27001 certificate or SOC 2 report, the issuing body, the scope and the expiry date. Check that the scope covers the entity and the office that will do your work. EffectiveSoft, for example, lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022 separately for its US and Polish entities.
HIPAA, PCI DSS, DORA, anti-money laundering rules and the EU AI Act each ask for different controls. Ask for a case study in your sector and what the auditor or regulator asked to see. ITRex’s financial crime compliance agents and Provectus’s insurance underwriting work are examples of sector-specific delivery.
Ask whether models and data stay in your own cloud account, which region they run in, whether the vendor’s staff can access production data, and how that access is logged. For health data, ask whether they will sign a business associate agreement.
Regulators expect a human to understand why a model flagged a transaction or denied a claim. Look for source citations, decision traces, human approval steps on high-risk actions and evaluation reports you can hand to an auditor.
If you operate in Europe, ask how the partner classifies each AI system under the EU AI Act, what documentation it produces and how it handles post-market monitoring. Twistag and ITRex both list EU AI Act work on their sites.
A firm that is ISO 27001 certified has passed an external audit of its information security management system and holds a certificate with a defined scope. A firm that is aligned or follows ISO 27001 practice uses the controls without an external certificate. Both can be safe partners, but only the first gives your auditors a document to cite.
Yes. There is no official HIPAA certification for vendors. What matters is a signed business associate agreement, controls over protected health information, audit logging and breach procedures. Our list of HIPAA compliance consulting firms can help you review a vendor’s setup.
ISO 13485 is the quality management standard for medical devices. It matters if your AI could count as software as a medical device, for example in diagnosis support. Momentum, Innowise and Binariks list it on their sites.
Document-heavy back-office work tends to go first: financial crime compliance alert review, claims triage, regulatory inquiries and medical coding support. These keep a human in the loop and have clear before and after metrics. For sector-specific partners, see our lists of fintech software development companies and healthcare software development companies.
ScienceSoft, Provectus and ITRex lead this list because they pair published security credentials with AI already running in lending, insurance and bank compliance. Momentum and Mindbowser are the healthcare specialists, Innowise, EffectiveSoft, Binariks and N-iX bring certified engineering capacity at scale, and Twistag stands out for RegTech agents and EU AI Act readiness.
Whichever firm you shortlist, verify each certificate directly and make the compliance review part of discovery, not a step after the build. If you are still choosing an AI direction, our guides to AI consulting companies and AI consulting firms in Europe cover the earlier stage.
