Short answer: Figma pricing in 2026 starts with a free Starter plan, then charges per seat. On the Professional plan a Full seat is $16 per month billed annually ($20 billed monthly), a Dev seat is $12 and a Collab seat is $3. Organization seats run $55, $25 and $5 per month and Enterprise seats $90, $35 and $5, both billed annually, while View seats are free on every plan.
Figma pricing used to be simple: one editor price per person. Since Figma restructured its billing in March 2025, the bill depends on which seat each person holds, which plan your team is on, whether you pay monthly or annually and, since March 2026, how many AI credits your team burns. Two companies with the same headcount can pay very different amounts.
This guide walks through every plan and seat type, what each one unlocks across Figma Design, FigJam, Dev Mode, Slides, Sites and Make, how AI credits work, and what a 5-person startup and a 40-person product org actually pay. All prices are in US dollars and were checked against Figma’s own pricing page and help center in October 2026.
Figma sells four plans. Starter is free. Professional, Organization and Enterprise are paid, and each charges separately for three paid seat types: Full, Dev and Collab. A fourth seat type, View, costs nothing on any plan. The table below shows the per-seat monthly price as listed on Figma’s pricing page.
| Plan | Full seat | Dev seat | Collab seat | View seat | Billing |
| Starter | Free | Free | Free | Free | None |
| Professional | $16/mo annual, $20/mo monthly | $12/mo annual | $3/mo annual | Free | Monthly or annual |
| Organization | $55/mo | $25/mo | $5/mo | Free | Annual only |
| Enterprise | $90/mo | $35/mo | $5/mo | Free | Annual only |
A few things the headline numbers hide. First, the Professional prices are the annual rates expressed per month. Pay month to month and the seats cost more: Figma staff confirmed in September 2026 that a Professional Full seat is $16 per month billed annually and $20 per month billed monthly. The monthly rates for Dev and Collab seats are also higher than the annual ones, so toggle the billing switch on the pricing page before you commit.
Second, Organization and Enterprise are sold only on annual terms, so the monthly figure is one twelfth of a yearly commitment. Third, prices exclude sales tax or VAT.
The jump from Professional to Organization is the biggest one on the price sheet. A Full seat goes from $16 to $55. Most teams make that jump because they need more than one team, shared fonts, branching or centralized admin, not because designers need extra canvas features.
Is Figma free? Yes, within limits. The Starter plan costs nothing and needs no seat purchases. It is a real working tool for individuals, students without an education account and anyone evaluating Figma before buying.
According to Figma’s plan and FAQ pages, Starter includes:
What Starter leaves out is what most teams need once more than one person touches the work: shared team libraries, unlimited files, Dev Mode, variables, video in prototypes and Figma Sites publishing all sit on paid plans. The 3 file limit is usually what pushes a small team to upgrade. Drafts are unlimited, but drafts are private by default, so as soon as you want a shared project space with more than three files you are on Professional.
Seats are the core of Figma pricing. Instead of paying an editor price for everyone, you assign each person the seat that matches the work they do. The definitions below come from Figma’s seat management help article.
| Product | Full | Dev | Collab | View (free) |
| Figma Design | Full editing | View and comment | View and comment | View and comment |
| Dev Mode | Full access | Full access | Basic inspection only | Basic inspection only |
| FigJam | Full access | Full access | Full access | View and comment |
| Figma Slides | Full access | Full access, no design mode | Full access | View and comment |
| Figma Make | Included | Not included | Not included | Not included |
| Figma Draw | Included | Not included | Not included | Not included |
| Figma Sites (beta) | Included | Separate beta rules | Separate beta rules | Separate beta rules |
| Monthly AI credits | 3,000 to 4,250 | 500 | 500 | 500 (150 per day cap) |
The Full seat is for people who create in Figma Design. It includes every core product: Figma Design, Figma Make, Dev Mode, Figma Draw, Figma Slides and FigJam. Figma’s pricing page also notes that Figma Sites and Figma Motion, both still in beta, are available on Full seats. If someone builds screens, components or prototypes, they need a Full seat.
The Dev seat gives engineers full Dev Mode access (inspection, code snippets, annotations, ready-for-dev views) plus FigJam and Slides, with view and comment rights in design files. There is no separate Figma Dev Mode pricing: you pay for Dev Mode through a Dev seat or a Full seat. Our Figma Dev Mode guide covers what the handoff features actually do and when engineers need them.
The Collab seat covers FigJam and Figma Slides in full, with view and comment access to design files and basic inspection instead of Dev Mode. It suits product managers, researchers, marketers and executives who run workshops, build decks or map flows in FigJam but never edit designs.
The View seat is free on every plan. Viewers can open files they have access to, leave comments, export assets and see redlines through basic inspection. Stakeholders who only review and approve work should stay on View seats, which is the single easiest way to keep a Figma bill under control.
Beta products follow their own rules. Figma says Sites, Buzz, Weave and Motion have separate access rules while in beta, so check the current help center entry if those products matter to your team. Sites in particular is publishable on all paid plans, and Professional teams can connect up to 10 custom domains. Our Figma Sites guide covers what the website builder can and cannot do.
AI credits are the newest line item in Figma pricing. Most AI features draw from a monthly credit allowance: Figma Make prompts, AI image editing (background removal, resolution boost, object isolation), FigJam template and diagram generation, and Weave runs. A few AI features are free, including AI search, layer renaming and FigJam summaries.
Each seat comes with its own monthly allowance, according to Figma’s AI credits help article:
Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. They are tied to a specific plan, so someone who belongs to two Figma plans has two separate allowances that do not combine. Figma began enforcing these limits on March 18, 2026. When a person runs out, paid AI actions stop until the allowance resets or an admin adds credits.
Admins can buy extra credits that anyone on the plan can draw from. When Figma announced the change in early 2026, it listed a monthly credit subscription at $120 for 5,000 credits, $180 for 7,500 and $240 for 10,000, plus pay-as-you-go packs at $150, $225 and $300 for the same volumes. Treat those as indicative and confirm current add-on pricing in your admin settings, because Figma adjusts AI packaging often.
List prices only help once you map them to a real team. Below are two common shapes, priced on annual billing using the per-seat rates above. View seats are free in both cases, and the totals exclude tax and any AI credit add-ons.
Picture a seed-stage SaaS company: one product designer, a founder who edits marketing pages and pitch decks, two engineers and a product manager. Investors and advisors review files as viewers.
Now a growth-stage company with 8 designers, 15 engineers who use Dev Mode, 12 PMs, researchers and marketers who live in FigJam and Slides, and 5 executives who only review. The table prices this team on all three paid plans, because the plan choice drives the bill far more than headcount does.
| Scenario | Seat mix | Monthly cost | Annual cost |
| 5-person startup, Professional | 2 Full ($32), 2 Dev ($24), 1 Collab ($3) | $59 | $708 |
| 5-person startup, everyone on Full | 5 Full ($80) | $80 | $960 |
| 40-person org, Professional | 8 Full ($128), 15 Dev ($180), 12 Collab ($36), 5 View ($0) | $344 | $4,128 |
| 40-person org, Organization | 8 Full ($440), 15 Dev ($375), 12 Collab ($60), 5 View ($0) | $875 | $10,500 |
| 40-person org, Enterprise | 8 Full ($720), 15 Dev ($525), 12 Collab ($60), 5 View ($0) | $1,305 | $15,660 |
Three lessons fall out of these numbers:
If the startup paid month to month instead, the two Full seats alone would cost $40 rather than $32, and the Dev and Collab seats would also rise. For a team confident it will use Figma all year, annual billing is the cheaper route.
Figma billing catches teams off guard mostly because seats can be added by request, not only by an admin buying them up front.
Anyone on a paid plan can request a higher seat. Figma first checks whether an unassigned seat of that type already exists. If it does, the person gets it at no extra cost. If not, approving the request adds a new seat to the subscription. Admins choose one of three approval settings: manually approve every seat, manually approve unless a seat is already available (the default), or auto-approve. While a request is pending, the person can get temporary access to the requested seat for up to three days.
New seats approved mid-cycle are prorated from the day of approval to the end of the period. On a monthly plan, a seat approved three days before the invoice shows both a three-day prorated charge and the next full month. Organization plans are billed annually with quarterly true-up invoices at months 3, 6 and 9 for seats added along the way. Figma’s pricing FAQ states that subscription payments are non-refundable, so downgrade or remove seats before renewal rather than after.
Figma education access is free for verified students and educators. After verifying with a school email, users can create or join an education team with access to the professional paid tools. Education accounts last two years for K-12 and higher education and 6 months for bootcamps. Education plan users get 3,000 AI credits per month each, and the Education plan includes one published Figma site, subject to bandwidth limits.
Figma does not offer a nonprofit discount. Its pricing FAQ says so directly and points nonprofits to the free Starter plan. A charity with a small design function can usually make Starter plus a handful of Professional seats work, keeping volunteers and board members on free View seats.
Two lower-cost comparisons come up most often.
Penpot is an open source design and prototyping tool. According to Penpot’s pricing page, its cloud Professional tier is free with no file limits, an Unlimited tier costs $7 per editor per month capped at $175 per month regardless of team size, and an Enterprise tier is $25 per member per month. You can also self-host it. The trade-off is ecosystem: Figma’s plugin library, community files, Dev Mode integrations and hiring pool are far larger, so most commercial product teams still pay for Figma.
Framer is a website builder, so it competes with Figma Sites rather than Figma Design. Framer prices per site: a free plan on a Framer domain, then paid site plans that start at $10 per month (Basic) and $30 per month (Pro), with additional editors at $20 per month. Check the billing term on Framer’s page, since several perks such as a free custom domain apply only to yearly billing. Figma Sites, by contrast, is included with paid Figma plans rather than priced per site, so a team already paying for Full seats can publish without a separate site plan. Our Framer pricing guide breaks down the plans in detail.
A Professional Full seat costs under $200 a year, far less than the people using it. For many companies the real cost question is whether the team has the skills to get value from the tool.
A few situations where outside help usually pays off:
Yes. The Starter plan is free and includes unlimited personal drafts, collaboration on up to 3 team files with 3 pages each, 30 days of version history and up to 500 AI credits a month. Paid plans are needed for unlimited shared files, team libraries, Dev Mode and Sites publishing. View seats are free on every plan.
A single designer on the Professional plan pays $16 per month for a Full seat on annual billing, or $20 per month billed monthly. That works out to $192 a year on the annual plan. Collaborators who only review can join on free View seats.
The Figma Professional plan includes Figma Design, FigJam, Slides, Draw, Make, Sites, Buzz and Dev Mode, with unlimited files and folders, team libraries, unlimited version history and unlimited members. It is designed for one team. Seats cost $16 (Full), $12 (Dev) and $3 (Collab) per month on annual billing.
The Figma Organization plan costs $55 per Full seat, $25 per Dev seat and $5 per Collab seat each month, billed annually. It adds unlimited teams, shared libraries and fonts, branching and merging, Code Connect and centralized admin. New seats are trued up on quarterly invoices.
Figma Enterprise pricing is $90 per Full seat, $35 per Dev seat and $5 per Collab seat per month, billed annually. Enterprise Full seats include 4,250 AI credits a month, and the plan adds custom workspaces, design system theming and APIs, and SCIM seat management. Large deployments may be able to negotiate with Figma’s sales team.
Figma Dev Mode pricing is built into the seats rather than sold as an add-on. A Dev seat costs $12 per month on Professional (annual), $25 on Organization and $35 on Enterprise, and Full seats include Dev Mode too. Dev Mode is not available on the free Starter plan; free viewers get basic inspection only.
Yes. Verified students and educators get free access to an education team with the professional paid tools and 3,000 AI credits per month each. Accounts last two years for K-12 and higher education and 6 months for bootcamps, so check the education page for renewal steps when yours expires.
No. Figma AI credits reset monthly and unused credits expire. Credits are tied to each plan and do not pool across plans, so heavy users should buy add-on credits at the plan level rather than expecting leftovers to carry over.
Figma pricing in 2026 comes down to three choices: the plan, the seat each person holds and the billing term. Starter is free but limited to 3 shared files. Professional costs $16, $12 and $3 per month for Full, Dev and Collab seats on annual billing, Organization costs $55, $25 and $5, and Enterprise costs $90, $35 and $5. View seats are always free, and AI credits come bundled with each seat, with paid top-ups for heavy Figma Make users.
To keep the bill sensible, give Full seats only to people who design, Dev seats only to engineers who need full Dev Mode, and View seats to everyone who just reviews. Pay annually if you are sure you will stay, keep seat approvals manual, and confirm current prices on Figma’s pricing page before renewal, because Figma has changed its packaging twice in the last two years.
