The best crypto payment gateway for ecommerce is the one that ships an official plugin for the platform your store already runs on, handles refunds without manual wallet work, and settles to your bank in the currency you report in. CoinGate, BitPay and PassimPay cover the most of that ground in 2026.
We judged each provider only on fit for an online store: which cart plugins it lists on its own site (WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento/Adobe Commerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, WHMCS), whether customers get a hosted checkout with a locked rate, how refunds work, and whether the merchant can settle in fiat or stablecoins. We used published fees only.
If you are still deciding how to take crypto at all, start with our guide to how to accept crypto payments as a business. If you need a branded processing stack rather than a plugin, our list of the best white label payment gateways covers that route.

CoinGate is operated by UAB Decentralized, a company incorporated in Lithuania. It holds a MiCA crypto asset service provider authorization from the Bank of Lithuania and a separate payment institution licence for electronic money token transfers. For stores selling into Europe, that gives finance teams a licensed counterparty.
CoinGate lists plugins for WooCommerce, Magento 2, PrestaShop, OpenCart, WHMCS and Wix. Merchants can keep crypto or convert to EUR, USD or GBP, with automatic weekly bank settlement on the standard plan. Refunds are a defined product with published pricing rather than a support ticket.
What stands out:
Best for: WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Magento stores in the EU that want a licensed provider and predictable weekly EUR payouts.
Pricing: 1% per processed transaction with no monthly fee. Manual conversion 1%, SWIFT withdrawals 0.5%, refunds 0.25 EUR plus 0.1%. Enterprise pricing is volume based.
BitPay is one of the longest running crypto processors and is licensed for virtual currency business activity by the New York State Department of Financial Services. It suits US merchants whose auditors want a regulated processor with a long track record.
BitPay’s developer documentation lists integrations for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento 2, BigCommerce, Wix and WHMCS. Its Shopify app is published by BitPay, Inc. in the Shopify App Store and settles merchants in USD, EUR, GBP and other currencies straight to a bank account. Merchants can also take a mix of crypto and fiat, and pass processing fees on to customers if they choose.
What stands out:
Best for: US and multi-region stores on Shopify, BigCommerce or WooCommerce that want fiat in the bank and no crypto on the balance sheet.
Pricing: Tiered by monthly volume: 2% plus 25 cents under $500,000, 1.5% plus 25 cents from $500,000 to $999,999, and 1% plus 25 cents above $1 million. Higher risk industries pay more.
PassimPay is a B2B crypto payment gateway launched in 2022 and operated from Poland by PASSIMPAY GLOBAL sp. z o.o. It accepts more than 70 coins and tokens and combines a REST API with ready made plugins, hosted invoices, payment links and QR codes. Every client gets a dedicated account manager, which helps teams without an in house developer.
Its plugin coverage is one of the widest we found: WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart and WHMCS, plus Joomla, Drupal, Bitrix, MODX, Shop-Script and Tilda. Incoming payments can auto convert to stablecoins so the store is not exposed to price swings, and legal entities can convert crypto to EUR and receive it over SEPA. Funds are available on blockchain confirmation with no holdback, and KYC and AML screening runs on the platform.
What stands out:
Best for: Stores on WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart or a regional CMS that want low flat pricing and EUR settlement without a long sales process.
Pricing: Flat 0.5% on accepted payments. Automatic conversion is listed at 0.2%. Registration and account maintenance are free.
NOWPayments was launched in 2019 by the team behind the ChangeNOW exchange. It is run by FD Transfers LLC of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with an office in Tallinn. Its main draw is coin coverage: more than 350 cryptocurrencies.
The NOWPayments knowledge base lists plugins for WooCommerce, Magento 2, PrestaShop, OpenCart, WHMCS, Ecwid and Zen Cart. For Shopify it offers an API integration rather than a listed app, so Shopify crypto payments through NOWPayments need more setup than BitPay or OpenNode. Stores can auto convert incoming coins and use the off ramp product to receive fiat.
What stands out:
Best for: Stores selling to crypto native customers who expect to pay in smaller altcoins, especially on WooCommerce, Ecwid or PrestaShop.
Pricing: From 1% per transaction, reduced through loyalty discounts and custom offers. Network fees are extra.
Coinbase has moved its merchant tools from Coinbase Commerce to Coinbase Business, and the old Commerce API is deprecated. Coinbase Business is available in the US and Singapore and settles payments in USDC into the merchant’s Coinbase Business account within seconds, with optional automatic withdrawal to a bank account. It accepts USDC on six networks including Base and Ethereum, plus USDT on Ethereum in select jurisdictions.
Coinbase lists plugins for WooCommerce, Magento (Adobe Commerce) and WHMCS, plus a Checkouts API for custom builds that supports full and partial refunds. Shopify is a separate story: Shopify built USDC on Base into Shopify Payments with Coinbase and Stripe, so eligible Shopify Payments merchants can accept USDC without a third party gateway and receive local currency by default. Payments are final, with no chargebacks.
What stands out:
Best for: US based stores that want stablecoin only acceptance and are comfortable with USDC as the settlement asset.
Pricing: A fee on each completed payment, shown inside the Coinbase Business account. Auto conversion from USDC to USD carries a separate fee. Rates are not published on the public site.
BTCPay Server is free, open source software that a merchant runs on their own server or through a third party host. Payments go straight to the merchant’s own wallet with no processing fee. The trade off is that the merchant handles hosting, updates and bitcoin price exposure, since BTCPay does not convert to fiat.
Integrations cover WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, PrestaShop, BigCommerce, OpenCart, Odoo, Wix, Drupal, nopCommerce and Ghost. The current Shopify integration runs a Shopify app on the merchant’s own BTCPay host and shows the bitcoin payment step on the order confirmation page. Shopify refunds work through a claim link emailed to the customer, at the original or current rate.
What stands out:
Best for: Technical teams and bitcoin focused stores that want full control and are willing to run their own infrastructure.
Pricing: Free software with 0% processing fees. Hosting and network fees are the merchant’s own cost.
OpenNode is a bitcoin payment processor based in Los Angeles. It handles payments over the Lightning Network for near instant confirmation as well as on chain, and lets merchants convert automatically to local currencies such as USD, EUR and GBP. Split Settlement lets a store keep part of each payment in bitcoin and convert the rest.
OpenNode publishes a Bitcoin Payments app in the Shopify App Store and shows WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Magento among its ecommerce integrations. Currency conversion is free. The trade off is scope: OpenNode is bitcoin only, so stores wanting stablecoin checkout need another gateway.
What stands out:
Best for: Shopify and WooCommerce stores that want to add bitcoin and Lightning checkout while settling mostly in fiat.
Pricing: 1% per transaction through the Shopify app. Other processing fees are not published; on demand on chain withdrawals cost 1%. Custom pricing for high volume and higher risk merchants.
Triple-A is run by Triple A Technologies Pte. Ltd. in Singapore and holds a Major Payment Institution licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Its EU arm, Paytop SAS, is licensed by the French ACPR, and its US entity holds money transmitter licences in various states.
Triple-A’s official WooCommerce plugin lets customers pay in bitcoin, Lightning, Ethereum, USDC, USDT or PayPal USD by scanning a QR code, with the exchange rate locked for 25 minutes. Funds settle to the merchant’s bank in USD, EUR, GBP or more than 50 other currencies, usually by the next business day, once KYB is complete. Merchants keep full control of refunds.
What stands out:
Best for: Mid size and enterprise WooCommerce or API driven stores that need a heavily licensed processor and local currency payouts.
Pricing: The WooCommerce plugin lists a 1.0% settlement fee with no setup cost. Bank settlement requires a balance of at least USD 3,000. Other pricing is custom.
CoinPayments started in Vancouver in 2013, one of the first crypto gateways for online merchants. Custodial wallets are provided through PaidInSatoshi Inc. (Panama) and Centauri Pay LLC (New Jersey). Invoices lock the exchange rate when they are created, so the store receives the billed amount even if the market moves during checkout.
CoinPayments has long offered shopping cart plugins for WooCommerce, OpenCart, Magento and PrestaShop. Store owners should check plugin maintenance before installing: the WooCommerce plugin’s directory listing shows it was last tested with WordPress 6.2. Fiat bank settlement runs through third party partners and depends on jurisdiction.
What stands out:
Best for: Stores that mainly want to receive crypto at a low fee and are comfortable holding coins rather than settling to fiat daily.
Pricing: 0.5% on most incoming payments. Withdrawals carry the coin’s network fee. Fiat settlement terms vary by partner and region.
Plisio is a crypto payment gateway operated by Plisio, Inc. that charges one flat 0.5% fee with no monthly, setup or hidden fees. It supports a focused set of major coins and stablecoins, which keeps checkout simple.
Plugins include WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, WHMCS, Shopware, VirtueMart and XenForo. Merchants can also send invoices by email, SMS or messenger with a QR code, and pool up to 1,000 payouts into one batch. Plisio does not describe fiat bank settlement, so plan on settling in crypto.
What stands out:
Best for: Small and mid size stores on Shopware, WooCommerce or PrestaShop that want low cost acceptance and are fine settling in crypto.
Pricing: Flat 0.5% per transaction, no monthly or setup fees.
Start with your cart. An official, maintained plugin saves weeks of development. For a crypto payment gateway for WooCommerce, almost every provider here qualifies, but check the plugin’s last update date first. Regional platforms like Bitrix or Tilda narrow the field to providers such as PassimPay.
Eligible Shopify Payments merchants can now accept USDC on Base natively and receive local currency. For other coins, or if you are not on Shopify Payments, use a provider with a Shopify App Store listing (BitPay, OpenNode) or a self hosted setup like BTCPay Server.
Settlement matters more than coin count. BitPay, CoinGate, Triple-A and PassimPay can pay out to a bank in fiat. Coinbase Business settles in USDC with bank withdrawal on demand. BTCPay Server and Plisio leave you holding crypto unless you convert elsewhere.
Crypto payments cannot be charged back, so refunds are your job. Look for a defined flow: CoinGate publishes refund fees, Coinbase Business has a refund endpoint, and BTCPay Server emails customers a claim link.
Headline rates for ecommerce crypto payments range from a flat 0.5% (PassimPay, Plisio, CoinPayments) to 2% plus 25 cents on BitPay’s entry tier. Add conversion, withdrawal and refund fees, then model them at your monthly volume.
Licensing affects whether your bank and auditors will accept the provider. CoinGate holds a MiCA authorization, Triple-A is licensed in Singapore, France and the US, and BitPay by the NYDFS. Match licences to the markets you sell into.
For most online stores, the right crypto payment gateway for ecommerce comes down to three checks: an official plugin for your cart, a clear refund process, and settlement in the currency you report in. CoinGate and BitPay lead on regulated fiat settlement, PassimPay stands out for flat pricing and the widest CMS plugin coverage, and Coinbase Business is the natural pick for US stores that only want USDC.
If you only want bitcoin and can run your own server, BTCPay Server removes fees entirely. Whichever you choose, test the full flow, including a refund, before going live.
