Roy Peires
Founder, IDILIQ Group & IDILIQ Foundation
Hospitality entrepreneur channeling decades of success into community-focused philanthropy.
“We created Kind Holidays as a seed of hope for families going through unimaginably difficult times. I have seen the life-affirming impact this initiative has had, not just on the recipients of these holidays, but on the team members at our hotels.”
Roy Peires founded what would become the IDILIQ Group in the 1980s, building a hospitality business that would later serve as the foundation for one of the sector’s most sustained charitable programs. Shortly after establishing the company, he began donating to local charities across the Costa del Sol, starting with Cudeca, an organization providing specialized palliative care to patients with terminal cancer. That early relationship, which included funding the reception area of Cudeca’s newly built hospice, marked the beginning of a philanthropic commitment that has continued for decades.
Over the years, the IDILIQ Foundation grew to support a wide range of organizations addressing healthcare, disability services, and community welfare across the region. Among its most significant investments was the construction of the F. Cruz Dias-ADIMI Care Centre, a €1,600,000 project supporting the only private non-profit organization in Mijas dedicated to defending the rights and quality of life of people with cognitive and developmental disabilities. The centre now provides services to more than 500 people, offering early care, youth services, and residential facilities equipped with modern medical technology.
The Foundation’s reach extended further through ongoing partnerships with organizations including AECC Málaga in the fight against breast cancer, Afesol supporting individuals with mental health conditions, and Fuensocial, for whom IDILIQ fully equipped a computer classroom for users with disabilities. Roy Peires has also been a longtime supporter of Christel House, an international organization building schools in under-resourced communities, sustaining that commitment for more than two decades.
Perhaps the most distinctive expression of Roy’s philanthropic vision is Kind Holidays, an initiative born from the IDILIQ Foundation that donates hotel accommodation to charities supporting families facing serious illness, bereavement, and the aftermath of military service. Launched in earnest in 2016 and expanded significantly from 2022 onward, the program has provided free holidays to more than 2,300 people through partnerships with over a dozen charities. Rather than treating the initiative as a cost, Roy has consistently framed it as a model with real business value, one that strengthens staff morale, retention, and company culture while providing meaningful support to families in crisis.
Roy has been vocal in encouraging other businesses across the hospitality and travel sectors, including hotels, airlines, cruise operators, and beyond, to adopt similar programs, positioning Kind Holidays as a template rather than a proprietary initiative. His broader body of work reflects a consistent throughline: using the infrastructure and resources of a successful hospitality business to create lasting, measurable impact for vulnerable communities.
