Volusion still works. That is worth saying plainly, because most content on this subject is published by agencies paid to move you off it. Thousands of merchants run profitable stores on the platform today and some of them have no good reason to change anything.
The trajectory is harder to argue with. Store Leads counted 3,260 live Volusion stores in September 2026, down 19 percent year on year, against a peak near 13,900 in early 2020. BuiltWith puts the figure higher at roughly 5,200, because it counts technology footprints including dormant stores rather than actively trading ones, but both trackers agree on the direction. Alongside that, Volusion’s partner marketplace lists 84 integrations. Shopify’s ecosystem runs into the tens of thousands and BigCommerce publishes more than 1,200. That gap is what merchants usually mean when they say they have outgrown the platform.
If you have decided to move, the destination matters less than the execution. The ten providers below cover every realistic target platform and every commercial model, from a self serve connector at a few hundred dollars to a full agency rebuild. All of them name Volusion on their own sites, which turns out to be a meaningful filter.

Optimum7 runs the most complete Volusion migration practice in this market. It maintains separate service pages for Volusion to Shopify, Volusion to BigCommerce, Volusion to WooCommerce and Volusion to OpenCart, plus inbound routes onto Volusion from Magento, Shopify, Miva, X-Cart, 3dcart and OpenCart, and it states it has moved more than 100 brands off the platform.
The Florida agency is also the most technically candid public source on why stores leave. Its published diagnosis covers URL structures that break canonical best practice, overlapping product and category paths that generate duplicate content, and product copy rendered by JavaScript after crawl. That last one is an indexation problem rather than a performance one, and it explains a good deal of the traffic decay merchants notice before they decide to move.
LitExtension has been migrating shopping carts since 2011 and reports more than 300,000 stores moved for over 200,000 customers. Volusion is supported outbound to Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopware, OpenCart, Wix, Ecwid and Squarespace, which makes it the most flexible single provider if the destination is not yet locked.
Two things make it the usual starting point. The demo migration is unlimited and free, so you can see exactly what arrives before paying, and the price for your specific store is visible up front rather than quoted. The All in One package adds a project manager who runs the transfer for you, which removes most of the risk of the self serve route without moving to agency pricing.
1Digital has run ecommerce only projects since 2012 with more than 50 specialists in Philadelphia, holding BigCommerce Elite, Shopify Plus and Google partner status. It is unusual in maintaining three distinct Volusion pages covering migration, store design and SEO.
That matters because a replatform is three projects wearing one name. Handing the data to one vendor, the theme to another and the redirects to nobody is how stores lose rankings. 1Digital also distinguishes between legacy V1 Volusion stores and newer V2 stores in its published approach, which is a real difference: the two generations behave differently on URLs and canonical tags and need different redirect strategies.
The Commerce Shop has been operating from Atlanta since 2009 with more than 30 certified developers and over 120 ecommerce clients, and it is the main route in this list to Adobe Commerce and Magento rather than to a hosted SaaS platform. Its Volusion page also covers Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Demandware as destinations.
Most Volusion merchants should not be moving to Adobe Commerce, and it is worth being honest about that. It is the right answer for a narrow band of stores: large catalogues, complex pricing rules, multiple storefronts or regions, and an internal team or budget to maintain the thing afterwards. If that describes you, this is the firm in this list built for it.
Cart2Cart, a MagneticOne product trading since 2008, supports Volusion outbound to Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, PrestaShop, Magento and Square, inbound from six carts, and Volusion to Volusion for cloning a store. Nothing else in this list offers that last route.
The cloning path is more useful than it sounds. It lets you build and test a replica before touching the live store, which is the safest way to rehearse a migration when you cannot afford downtime. For the outbound transfer itself, the free demo tells you what will actually arrive, and the page was refreshed in August 2026 so the tooling is current.
OuterBox has been trading since 2004 from Akron, Ohio with more than 300 United States based staff, holds Google Premier Partner status for 2026 and carries an Inc. 5000 listing. It runs both a Volusion migration page and a separate Volusion SEO page.
Its position on sequencing is the reason to include it. OuterBox argues that search should be involved before URLs, templates, redirects and content decisions are locked, which is the opposite of how most replatforms run and the correct order. Agencies that bring SEO in after launch are usually being asked to recover traffic rather than to preserve it, and recovery is much harder.
WPExperts runs a specific Volusion to WooCommerce migration service rather than treating WordPress as one option among many. For merchants heading to WooCommerce that focus is worth something, because the destination has its own migration problems that a generalist tends to underestimate.
WooCommerce appeals to Volusion merchants for an understandable reason: no platform fee, no transaction penalty, complete control of the URL structure and the strongest content and SEO tooling of any destination through WordPress. The trade is that hosting, security and updates become yours. Choose this route if you have technical resource, or a retainer to cover it, and not simply because the monthly cost line looks smaller.
WP Small Fix offers Volusion to WooCommerce migration with zero downtime, 301 redirect mapping and SEO preservation written into the service rather than sold as an extra. The service page was updated at the start of 2026.
The redirect commitment is the part to test. Any provider can write SEO preservation on a page, so ask how many URLs they expect to map, what they will do with Volusion’s parameter driven search and category paths, and whether you get the map as a deliverable. A provider who can answer those three questions specifically is doing the work; one who answers in general terms is not.
Virtina is a United States and India operation founded in 2012, ISO 9001:2015 certified and registered with the US Commercial Service Business Service Provider programme, reporting more than 2,500 projects. Its Volusion migration page offers Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or BigCommerce without pushing one.
That neutrality has practical value at the start of a project. Most agencies sell the platform they are certified on, which makes platform selection advice worth less than it appears. Virtina builds on all four, so the recommendation is at least not predetermined. Their Volusion page was last substantially revised in 2024, so confirm current scope when you make contact.
Next-Cart sells a self serve migration tool and a fully managed service across more than 80 platform pairings, covering Volusion to Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, OpenCart, Squarespace, Shopware and Shift4Shop. The blog carries posts through mid 2026.
It earns a place on this list for the awkward catalogues. Volusion stores that have been trading for years commonly hold important product information in custom fields, option tables or naming conventions nobody documented, and the standard connectors ignore what they do not recognise. If a demo run with another tool came back with gaps, a managed Next-Cart migration that maps those fields explicitly is the sensible next step.
Migration costs money, consumes months and carries real ranking risk, so it should answer a specific problem. Good reasons to move: you have hit Volusion’s annual sales cap on your tier, you need an integration the 84 item marketplace does not cover, you need genuine business to business functionality, or your organic traffic is decaying for reasons traced to platform level URL and rendering behaviour. A bad reason is that the admin feels dated. If nothing on that list applies, staying put and spending the budget on marketing is a defensible decision.
Shopify takes the majority of departing Volusion merchants and suits most stores, with the largest app and agency ecosystem behind it. BigCommerce fits large catalogues, deep product options and native wholesale without per feature app costs. WooCommerce gives complete control and no platform fee in exchange for owning hosting and maintenance. Adobe Commerce is for large, complex, well resourced operations only. Our guides to Volusion to Shopify migration companies and Volusion to BigCommerce migration services go deeper on the two most common routes.
Run this test: list everything on your current store that a developer built rather than configured. If the list is empty, an automated tool plus a theme will get you there for a fraction of agency cost. If it includes a custom checkout, tiered pricing, a configurator or an ERP connection, none of that appears in an export file and you will need an agency regardless. Discovering this after the data has moved is the expensive way to find out.
Ask for the redirect methodology before you sign anything. You want a one to one map from every indexed Volusion URL to its destination, covering legacy paths such as ProductDetails.asp and parameter driven category and search URLs, where older stores hold most of their ranking history. A blanket redirect to the new homepage is not a migration plan, and search engines treat it as a soft 404.
This matters more here than in most categories. Volusion’s live store base has fallen roughly 77 percent since 2020 and agency attention has followed it down. Several firms still ranking for Volusion migration searches have no working Volusion page, and at least one widely cited agency now serves a 404 on the URL directories continue to list. Open the page yourself, check the footer date, and ask when the last Volusion project completed.
Optimum7 covers more Volusion routes than anyone else and is the strongest single call when custom functionality has to be rebuilt rather than transferred. 1Digital Agency and OuterBox are the picks when design and search need owning alongside the data. The Commerce Shop is the Adobe Commerce specialist, WPExperts and WP Small Fix handle WordPress destinations, and Virtina is useful while the destination is still open.
LitExtension, Cart2Cart and Next-Cart will move the data itself for a fraction of agency cost, and for a clean catalogue that is the right answer. Whichever route you choose, run the free demo migration first and check the output against your own catalogue. Every credible provider offers one, and the gaps it exposes cost almost nothing to fix in a sandbox and a great deal to fix in public.
