To opt out of Intelius, use the free PeopleConnect Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us (Intelius’s privacy center sends you there). Confirm your email, enter your date of birth and legal name, choose your record, verify with a code sent to a contact on that record, then set “Desired Behavior” to “Suppressed” and Save. Intelius is the hub of a network of about 22 registered domains, including ZabaSearch and Addresses.com, so checking those sites afterward is what separates a complete Intelius removal from a partial one.
Intelius is one of the oldest US people-search companies. It started in Bellevue, Washington, and since 2015 has been part of PeopleConnect, Inc. in San Diego, which is owned by private equity firm H.I.G. Capital. Intelius, LLC registers as a data broker in California under the names Intelius, US Search and US Search Pro, and its registration covers 22 domains. Many of those domains look like independent free lookup sites but pull from the same Intelius database.
| Data type | Free listing (no account) | Paid Intelius report |
| Name, age, aliases | Yes | Yes |
| Current and past addresses | Yes, often full street addresses on network sites | Full history |
| Phone numbers, carrier, line type | Often shown on network sites such as ZabaSearch | All known numbers |
| Email addresses | Partly masked | Yes |
| Relatives and associates | Yes | Yes |
| Arrest and court records, liens, judgments, bankruptcies | No | Yes |
| Property owned | Partial | Yes |
The free layer is the part that does most of the damage. Anyone can see where you live and who your relatives are without paying a cent, which is why “intelius remove my info” and “how do I remove my name from Intelius” keep getting searched every month.
Intelius sits at the center of two overlapping families. Understanding both saves you from thinking you are done when you are not.
| Family | Sites | How the opt out reaches them |
| PeopleConnect brands | Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, US Search | Named as covered by one Suppression Center request |
| Intelius-powered lookup sites | ZabaSearch, Addresses.com, and other domains on Intelius, LLC’s registration; PeopleConnect’s BBB listing names PublicRecords.com, PeopleLookup.com and LookupAnyone.com as DBAs | Their “remove my listing” links route to the Intelius privacy center and then to the Suppression Center, but they are not named in PeopleConnect’s coverage wording |
| Excluded sibling | Classmates.com | Not covered; separate process |
If you have already done a TruthFinder or Instant Checkmate removal, your Intelius name-search listing should already be suppressed. This guide focuses on the parts those guides do not: the long tail of Intelius-powered sites and the lookups that suppression skips. For the TruthFinder-specific walkthrough, see our TruthFinder opt out guide.
The Intelius opt out official route is intelius.com’s privacy center, which hands you to PeopleConnect’s Suppression Center. Older guides pointing to an “intelius.com/optout” form or a mailed request are out of date. The steps below are from current documentation and independent walkthroughs (May and August 2026). Allow 15 minutes, and do it in one sitting, because there is no save-progress option.
| Step | What to do | Watch out for |
| 1 | Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us. Enter your email and submit. | Use an inbox you can open immediately |
| 2 | Open the confirmation email and click Confirm/Verify Email. | The link expires in about 15 minutes |
| 3 | On the Guided Mode page, enter your date of birth, tick the box, click Continue. | Date of birth cannot be changed once set |
| 4 | Enter your first, middle and last legal name, tick the box, click Continue. | Add former names if prompted |
| 5 | Select the record that matches you and click Next. | Use age, city and relatives to tell records apart |
| 6 | On the Verification page, pick a partially masked email or phone you recognize, type the full value, click Request Verification Code. | Must be a contact already on your record |
| 7 | Enter the code and click Submit Verification Code, then Continue. | The code is not auto-filled |
| 8 | On the Control page, set Desired Behavior to Suppressed and click Save. | Verification alone does not hide your record |
| 9 | Screenshot the Control page, including any request ID. | No confirmation email is sent |
This is the step most Intelius guides skip. ZabaSearch is notable because its free listings can show full phone numbers and addresses with no account. Neither ZabaSearch nor Addresses.com has its own working opt-out form in 2026: zabasearch.com/optout returns a 404, and both sites’ removal links lead to the Intelius privacy center.
| Site | Operator | Own opt-out form? | What to do |
| Intelius.com | Intelius, LLC | Routes to Suppression Center | Suppress, then verify |
| US Search | Intelius, LLC | Routes to Suppression Center | Verify |
| ZabaSearch | Intelius-powered | No (old URL is 404) | Verify, email privacy@intelius.com if still listed |
| Addresses.com | Intelius, LLC | No (“Remove My Listing” routes to Intelius) | Verify, email if still listed |
| PublicRecords.com, PeopleLookup.com, LookupAnyone.com | PeopleConnect DBAs | Not documented | Verify, email if still listed |
| Classmates.com | PeopleConnect | Yes, separate | Handle separately if relevant |
PeopleConnect describes its suppression as applying to name searches. That leaves gaps you should close deliberately.
| Gap | Why it matters | How to close it |
| Reverse phone lookups | Someone with your number can still pull a report | Email privacy@peopleconnect.us asking for deletion of phone-based reports, listing the numbers |
| Reverse address lookups | Someone with your address can see who lives there | Same email, listing the addresses |
| Reverse email lookups | Ties email to identity | Same email, listing the email addresses |
| Public registries (for example sex-offender registries) | Government records are outside suppression | Not removable through the broker |
| Classmates.com | Old yearbook photos and names | Classmates’ own process |
| Non-PeopleConnect brokers | Whitepages, Spokeo and others hold the same records | Separate opt-outs |
Reverse phone reports, such as Instant Checkmate’s phone lookup, are a common reason a “suppressed” person keeps finding themselves; our Instant Checkmate opt out guide covers that request in detail.
Most failed Intelius removals come from a handful of avoidable errors. Run through this list before you assume the process did not work.
| Mistake | What happens | Fix |
| Stopping at the “Verified” screen | Identity is confirmed but the record stays public | Log back in and set Desired Behavior to Suppressed, then Save |
| Suppressing only one of several records | An older record with a past address keeps showing | Rerun the flow for each record that is clearly you |
| Skipping former names | Records under a maiden name or previous surname survive | Run the flow again with the former name |
| Checking only intelius.com | ZabaSearch or Addresses.com still show your address | Check the full network after five days |
| Assuming phone lookups are covered | Your number still returns your name | Email privacy@peopleconnect.us listing each number |
| Searching in a logged-in browser | Cached pages make you think the listing is still live | Always verify in a private window |
| Paying a “removal fee” to a third-party site | You pay for a free process and share more data | Use the official Suppression Center directly |
Use this as a printable record. Fill in the date column as you go, and keep it with your screenshots.
| Task | When | Date done |
| Suppress every matching record in the Suppression Center | Day 1 | |
| Screenshot the Control page and request ID | Day 1 | |
| Email privacy@peopleconnect.us about phone, address and email reports | Day 1 | |
| Check intelius.com, truthfinder.com, instantcheckmate.com, ussearch.com | Day 3 | |
| Check ZabaSearch, Addresses.com, PublicRecords.com, PeopleLookup.com, LookupAnyone.com | Day 5 | |
| Submit stale Google results to Refresh Outdated Content | Day 5 | |
| Follow up by email on anything still visible | Day 14 | |
| Full recheck | Every 90 days |
| Stage | Typical time | Note |
| Filling in the flow | About 15 minutes | No save-progress option |
| Suppression live on intelius.com | Usually within 72 hours | Independent testing, not an official SLA |
| Propagation across the network | Up to about 10 business days | Check ZabaSearch and Addresses.com last |
| Email requests to privacy@intelius.com | Varies | Keep a copy and follow up after two weeks |
| Google removing old snippets | Days to weeks | Use Google’s Refresh Outdated Content tool |
Intelius, LLC’s California registry filing reports 32,339 deletion requests in 2024, with 30,959 complied with in full, 1,380 denied, and a one-day median response time. Most requests go through quickly, but roughly one in 23 did not, so checking matters.
Two related searches cause a lot of confusion: “intelius cancel subscription” and “how to get rid of intelius pop up”.
Opting out and canceling are different. Canceling stops recurring billing on a membership you bought; it does nothing to your own public listing. Cancel through your Intelius account or Intelius customer care, which current guides list at (877) 564-3253, weekdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific. Then run the suppression flow if you also want your record hidden. If you see a recurring charge you do not recognize, that is a paid product, not the free opt-out.
Intelius-branded pop ups on unrelated websites are almost always advertising, often from lookup sites or ad networks embedded on the page you are visiting. They are not a sign that Intelius is on your device. Practical steps: close the tab rather than clicking inside the pop up, enable your browser’s pop-up blocker, remove any unfamiliar browser extensions, and turn off notification permissions for sites you do not recognize in your browser settings.
Intelius-powered sites rank as recurring re-listers. Suppression flags a record; it does not erase the public records feeding it, and new data can produce a new record.
Next, work through the other large broker families with our guides to Whitepages opt out and TruePeopleSearch opt out. Spokeo, FastPeopleSearch, BeenVerified and PeopleFinders also need their own requests.
| Factor | DIY | Paid removal service |
| Cost | Free | Annual subscription; check current pricing |
| Intelius network coverage | Suppression plus manual checks of ZabaSearch and DBAs | Varies by provider; ask whether ZabaSearch and Addresses.com are on their list |
| Reverse phone and address reports | You email PeopleConnect yourself | Some services include these requests, others do not |
| Re-listing checks | Manual | Automatic rescans |
| Verification codes | You handle them | May still need you to forward a code |
| Best for | One-time cleanups | Ongoing exposure, public roles, families |
If you choose a service, ask specifically how it handles PeopleConnect’s contact-based verification and whether it covers the Intelius DBAs. Our ranking of top personal data removal services and the DeleteMe vs Incogni comparison break down coverage and pricing.
If an Intelius or ZabaSearch listing is part of a wider problem, such as harassment or a doxxing incident, start at ReVerb’s reputation management hub, or compare specialists in our list of top content removal and deindexing service providers.
Intelius’s privacy center routes to PeopleConnect’s Suppression Center at https://suppression.peopleconnect.us/. That is the official route for name-search suppression.
Yes. You do not need an account, a payment card or a report purchase. Any recurring charge means you bought a paid product, which has to be canceled separately.
Suppress your record in the Suppression Center, check ZabaSearch, Addresses.com and the other Intelius domains after a few days, and email privacy@peopleconnect.us to request deletion of reverse phone, address and email reports.
Yes, it is a long-established, registered data broker owned by PeopleConnect. Its reports compile public records and commercial data and can contain mistakes or mismatches, so treat them as leads, not facts.
Basic search results are free and already show names, ages, locations and relatives. Full reports, including court records and phone numbers, require a paid membership or report.
Yes for name searches: one Suppression Center request covers Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search. Verify each one.
Email privacy@intelius.com or privacy@peopleconnect.us with your full name, city, the listing URL and an explanation that the listed contacts are outdated, and ask for manual suppression.
ZabaSearch is Intelius-powered but not named in PeopleConnect’s coverage, and propagation can take up to about 10 business days. If it persists, email privacy@intelius.com with the ZabaSearch URL.
Suppress your record at suppression.peopleconnect.us, making sure to set Desired Behavior to Suppressed and click Save. Wait 72 hours and check Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search. Wait a few more days and check ZabaSearch, Addresses.com and the other Intelius domains. Email privacy@peopleconnect.us for reverse phone, address and email reports, recheck every 90 days, and decide whether to keep doing this yourself or let a removal service carry the long tail.
