Quick answer: A London marketing agency typically costs £1,000 to £10,000 a month, depending on the services and the size of the agency. As a guide, SEO retainers usually run £1,000 to £5,000 a month, PPC management fees £500 to £5,000 a month (or 10 to 20% of ad spend), social media management £800 to £5,000, content marketing £1,500 to £5,000, and PR retainers £2,000 to £10,000 or more. Large London agencies running integrated campaigns often charge well above these figures.
London has one of the deepest agency markets in the world, from two-person specialists to global networks. That makes it easy to find help and hard to compare prices, because agencies package their services in very different ways. One firm quotes a flat monthly fee, another charges a percentage of ad spend, and a third bills by the day.
This guide breaks down typical marketing agency fees by service and pricing model, using published UK rate cards and pricing research that we read and linked. Figures are mostly UK-wide, and London fees usually sit in the upper half of each range. For more London lists and buying guides, see our London services hub.

Before comparing numbers, it helps to know which model an agency is using.
Expert Market’s UK digital marketing cost guide puts overall digital marketing agency costs at £1,000 to £10,000 per month, with small businesses typically paying £1,000 to £2,000. Use that as a broad frame, then look at each service on its own.

As a published London example, Whitehat SEO, based on Uxbridge Road, lists its SEO retainer from £1,967 per month and SEO plus content from £2,967 per month, excluding VAT. For a full breakdown of local, national and enterprise SEO pricing, see our guide to how much SEO costs in London.

Where agencies charge a percentage of spend, Visionary Marketing puts the typical band at 10 to 20%, rising to 15 to 25% for budgets under £5,000 a month and falling to 8 to 12% above £25,000 a month. Whitehat’s UK PPC agency pricing guide gives a similar 10 to 20% for SME budgets and 5 to 10% for enterprise, plus one-off set-up fees of £250 to £1,000. It also reports an average London PPC retainer of about £1,200 a month, compared with £950 in Manchester, and advises caution with any agency charging under £400. Whitehat’s own PPC management starts at £780 per month plus ad spend. To compare providers, see our list of the top PPC agencies in London.
UK research publisher Whito’s social media management cost research, compiled from published UK rates in early 2026, gives these monthly ranges: experienced freelancers £500 to £1,200, small agencies £800 to £2,000, mid-size agencies £2,000 to £5,000, and specialist social agencies £3,000 to £10,000 or more. Each extra platform typically adds £150 to £800 a month, with TikTok at the top of that range because of video production. Paid social management usually costs another £300 to £1,500 a month in fees, plus the ad spend.
Expert Market’s figures for UK agencies point the same way, with an average monthly retainer of about £1,200 for organic social and £600 for paid social management. The biggest cost driver in social is content production. A retainer that includes shooting short-form video every week will cost far more than one built around graphics and scheduling. Our list of the top social media marketing agencies in London covers agencies working at different budget levels.
Content can be bought per piece or on a monthly retainer. Whito’s content marketing cost research puts a 1,000-word blog post at roughly £150 to £500 and a 2,000-word piece at £300 to £1,000. Its monthly retainer tiers run from £500 to £1,500 for two to four posts, £1,500 to £3,000 for four to eight pieces with strategy and SEO, £3,000 to £5,000 for eight to twelve pieces across formats, and £5,000 or more for a dedicated team.
If you hire writers directly, the ProCopywriters 2026 survey of UK freelance copywriters found a median day rate of £440, with reported rates ranging from £300 to £1,800 a day. Agencies add strategy, editing, design and distribution on top of writing, which explains much of the difference.
PR is usually the most expensive single service on this list, because it relies on senior people and media relationships. Curzon PR, based in St James’s Square, says in its guide to PR costs that boutique London agencies typically charge £5,000 to £10,000 a month, while large agencies can exceed £25,000 a month. Bridgehead Communications, a B2B tech PR firm, gives three benchmark retainer levels for UK B2B tech PR in 2026: £2,000 to £3,000 for trade press and reactive work, £4,000 to £7,500 for core growth PR, and £8,000 to £15,000 for full always-on campaigns.
Most PR agencies charge a retainer rather than an hourly rate. The PRCA and ICCO agency confidence tracker found that only 22% of agencies surveyed charged a flat hourly rate. Project fees for a single launch or campaign are available, but Bridgehead notes they tend to carry a higher effective day rate because of ramp-up time.
Start with the result you need, such as a number of qualified leads or a revenue target, and work back to the channels most likely to deliver it. For many London SMEs, a focused starting budget is one or two channels done properly, for example SEO plus PPC, rather than five channels done thinly. Ask agencies for a written scope with hours, people and deliverables, plus the minimum term, notice period and who owns accounts, data and creative assets. If you want to see full-service options, our list of the top digital marketing agencies in London is a good place to start, and our guide on how to choose a digital marketing agency in London covers the selection process.

Many do. A typical range is 10 to 20% of monthly ad spend, usually with a minimum fee. Others charge a flat monthly fee or a hybrid of the two. Ad spend is always paid on top of the management fee.
Usually, yes, for single-channel work. Whito’s research puts experienced social media freelancers at £500 to £1,200 a month against £800 to £5,000 for agencies. Agencies make more sense when you need several specialists working together, cover during holidays, and one point of accountability.
Boutique London PR agencies typically charge £5,000 to £10,000 a month, according to Curzon PR, while large agencies can charge more than £25,000. Smaller B2B programmes focused on trade press can start at around £2,000 to £3,000 a month.
A London marketing agency can cost anything from £1,000 to well over £10,000 a month. The right figure depends on the services, the agency’s size and seniority, and how much creative production is involved. Use the ranges in this guide to sense-check quotes, compare like with like on hours and deliverables, and start with the channels most likely to move your numbers.
