Finance and accounting outsourcing, or FAO, moves the transactional and reporting work of a finance function to an outside provider. Typical scopes cover record to report (journal entries, reconciliations and the close), procure to pay (invoices, vendor payments and T&E), order to cash (billing, cash application and collections) and, more and more, financial planning and analysis.
This list is for CFOs, controllers and shared services leaders at mid-market and enterprise companies who are running or planning an FAO evaluation. Most of the names are global providers with tens of thousands of staff and their own automation platforms. We also included two mid-market specialists, Auxis and Embark, because a $200 million company rarely needs the same operating model as a Fortune 500 one.
For each provider we checked its own website for the F&A processes it offers, the platforms and tools it names, its delivery locations and its headquarters. Analyst rankings are mentioned only where the provider reports them on its own pages. If you are a CPA firm looking for capacity rather than a corporate finance team, see our list of tax preparation outsourcing companies for CPA firms instead.

Genpact grew out of GE’s finance operations and still treats finance and accounting as a core business. Headquartered at 521 Fifth Avenue in New York, it has offices in 30 countries and says it provides F&A services to more than 320 enterprises. Its F&A practice covers accounts payable, invoice to cash, record to report, financial planning and analysis and finance consulting.
Genpact has packaged parts of that work as agentic AI products. The Record-to-Report Suite has Journal Entry, Reconciliation and Intercompany modules that ingest ERP, sub-ledger and bank data, match transactions and send exceptions to people for decisions. The AP Suite handles invoice processing and duplicate payment checks, and there are AR, deductions recovery and Finance Action Hub products alongside them. Finance partners named on the site include HighRadius, BlackLine, ServiceNow, Snowflake and Databricks.
Genpact reports being named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for F&A BPO Services and a Market Leader in Everest Group’s 2025 F&A assessment. Case studies on its F&A page include GE Lighting and Mondelēz International.
Best for: Large enterprises that want a full F&A operation with packaged AI tooling for the close and payables.
Accenture runs finance and accounting outsourcing as part of its operations business, which it calls Intelligent F&A BPO Services. The scope covers procure to pay, order to cash and record to report, plus AI-supported FP&A, managed treasury and cash services, and statutory tax compliance. Accenture plc lists its principal executive offices in Dublin, and the company reports offices and operations in 52 countries.
Delivery runs on SynOps, Accenture’s AI-powered operations platform, alongside a Financial Insights Platform for persona-based reporting and Connect F&A Concierge for interactive support. Accenture also uses AI Refinery, built with Nvidia, to build F&A agents for work such as invoice processing, collections and reconciliations. Technology partners it names for F&A include HighRadius, Celonis and BlackLine.
Accenture reports being named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for F&A BPO Services for the fifth consecutive year in 2026, and the highest-designated Leader in Everest Group’s 2025 FAO PEAK Matrix.
Best for: Global companies that want F&A outsourcing tied to a wider finance and technology transformation program.
WNS is now part of Capgemini, which closed its acquisition of the company. WNS lists global headquarters offices in Mumbai, New York and London, and reports more than 64,000 employees and more than 700 clients. Its finance and accounting practice says it works with more than 150 global CFO offices.
The F&A offering covers record to report, quote to sustain, procure to pay and finance governance, risk and compliance, plus CFO advisory services. The technology layer is TRAC ONE-F for autonomous accounting and WNS TRAC eClose for the close, along with Financial Intelligence-in-a-Box, a set of tools that includes a duplicate invoice detector, a forecaster, journal entry analytics, working capital analytics and a generative AI suite for F&A.
Best for: Finance teams that want outsourced operations combined with analytics on working capital, journals and audit risk.
EXL is a data analytics and operations company headquartered at 320 Park Avenue in New York. It reports more than 60,000 professionals across more than 50 global delivery centers, with locations in the US, India, the Philippines, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, Ireland, the UK, Canada and Australia.
Its finance and accounting practice covers finance transformation, data-driven finance using analytics and AI, and corporate accounting that spans treasury, procure to pay, financial reporting and order to cash. EXL’s heaviest industry exposure is in insurance, banking and capital markets and healthcare, which shows in its approach: it leads with data and analytics rather than pure transaction processing. EXL reports being named a Leader by ISG across P2P, O2C, R2R and FP&A in its F&A outsourcing assessment.
Best for: Insurers, banks and healthcare companies that want F&A delivery from a provider with deep data analytics capability.
Infosys BPM is the business process management arm of Infosys, with its first listed India office in Electronics City, Bengaluru. It reports 42 delivery locations across 14 countries. Its finance and accounting practice covers procure to pay, quote to cash, record to report, enterprise reporting and planning, tax support and an Accounts Payable on Cloud offering, with centers of excellence for risk and compliance, tax, finance analytics, process mining and AI.
The record to report service is the most detailed on its site. It includes financial reporting with 10-K and 10-Q support for SEC filers, SOX testing, VAT support and an AI tool called Hawk-Eye that checks postings against ERP data to flag outliers. Infosys BPM says it reconciles more than 325,000 accounts and posts more than 430,000 journal entries a year, and that the service works with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics. It also offers industry-specific accounting such as lease, royalty and warranty accounting.
Best for: Enterprises that want a benchmark-driven F&A operation with strong SEC reporting and SOX support.
Wipro’s business process services group, run from the company’s corporate office on Sarjapur Road in Bengaluru, offers procure to pay, order to cash, record to report and FP&A outsourcing. Wipro pairs that delivery with a long list of technology partners: SAP, Infor, BlackLine, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Pega, ThoughtSpot, Incorta and Kognitos.
That partner list matters if your F&A outsourcing decision is tied to an ERP move or a close automation rollout, because Wipro can run the process and the platform work under one contract. It also markets an Enterprise-in-a-Box transformation suite and generative AI offerings for finance. Wipro reports being named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for F&A BPO and in Everest Group’s FAO PEAK Matrix for nine consecutive years.
Best for: Companies that want one partner to run F&A processes and the ERP and close platforms behind them.
Sutherland has operated since 1987 and lists corporate offices in Pittsford, New York, San Francisco and London. It reports a global team of more than 40,000 and more than 70 offices. Its F&A practice covers customer to cash, source to pay, record to report, FP&A and risk advisory, which includes internal audit, SOX and financial reporting controls.
Two things stand out. First, Sutherland says more than 40% of its contracts are outcome-based, so pricing can be tied to results such as DSO or cost targets rather than headcount. Second, it uses its own platforms: Prodigy for process redesign and automation, Collect AI for collections analytics that predict delinquency and suggest next actions, and Extract for document digitization. One case study on its F&A page reports a 2.4-day cut in DSO and 18% higher monthly collections for a printing company.
Best for: Companies that want collections and payables outsourcing priced against measurable outcomes.
Datamatics is a technology and business process company with its registered office in MIDC, Andheri East, Mumbai. Its finance and accounting practice employs more than 3,100 F&A professionals and covers procure to pay, order to cash, record to report, FP&A, accounts receivable and payable management, financial dashboards and US and Canadian tax processing.
Datamatics builds much of its own automation. FINATO is its AI-based finance platform, TruCap+ handles intelligent document capture, TruBot provides RPA and TruAgent provides AI agents. The scale figures are large: Datamatics says it processes 21 million invoices worth $100 billion a year, has processed 15 million balance sheet documents for global credit rating agencies and files more than 25,000 US tax returns for high-net-worth individuals each year.
Best for: Companies with heavy invoice and document volumes that want processing backed by in-house automation tools.
Auxis is the nearshore option on this list. Its US corporate headquarters is at 1301 International Parkway in Fort Lauderdale, and its delivery runs from main hubs in Heredia, Costa Rica, and Barranquilla, Colombia, with supporting hubs in Bogotá, Medellín and Mexico City. Auxis is a subsidiary of Grant Thornton Advisors and can add offshore capacity through Grant Thornton service centers in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
The scope is detailed. Procure to pay covers vendor master data, three-way match, T&E and vendor reconciliations. Order to cash covers billing, collections, cash application, deductions and revenue recognition. Record to report covers journal entries, accruals, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, consolidations, payroll accounting and SOX documentation. FP&A support includes project accounting, reporting and variance analysis, with RPA and automated reconciliations layered on top.
Auxis reports more than 200 accounting professionals trained on US GAAP and IFRS and an accounting center of excellence staffed by CPAs. It targets mid-market and enterprise clients in retail and CPG, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, restaurants, private equity and technology.
Best for: Mid-market US companies that want F&A outsourcing in their own time zone with Spanish and English coverage.
Embark is a US finance and accounting advisory firm headquartered in Dallas, with offices in 26 locations including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Denver, Seattle and Washington, D.C. Its outsourcing service is aimed at companies that want an experienced team rather than a transaction factory, and it notes that it is not a CPA firm and does not perform audits or tax work.
The outsourcing scope covers the general ledger and period-end close, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, treasury and accounts payable, accounts receivable and revenue reporting, inventory and fixed assets, budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling, cash forecasting, board and investor reporting, debt covenant compliance, audit readiness and capital raise support. Fractional CFO services sit on top for companies without a full-time finance leader. Embark also offers US GAAP and IFRS advisory and interim controllers and CFOs, and it serves SaaS, private equity and VC-backed, healthcare and energy companies among others.
Best for: Mid-market and PE-backed companies that want onshore close, FP&A and CFO-level support from one team.
Most companies start with high-volume, rules-based work such as accounts payable, cash application and bank reconciliations, then move into the close, intercompany and FP&A once the provider has proven its controls. Map your processes by volume and judgment required before you write the RFP, and ask each provider which of them it runs today for companies your size.
Genpact, Accenture, WNS, EXL, Infosys BPM and Wipro are built for multi-country, multi-ERP finance operations and will expect a contract of matching size. Auxis and Embark are a better fit when you need a few dozen people, US time zone overlap and senior attention. Ask each shortlisted provider for references at your revenue level.
Every provider on this list markets AI. The useful question is what share of your volume its tools will handle in year one versus year three, and who owns the tools if you leave. Ask for a demo on your own sample data and for case studies with measured results.
Your auditors will need to rely on the provider’s controls. Confirm that it issues SOC 1 reports for the processes you outsource, how it documents SOX controls and how it handles segregation of duties when its staff work in your ERP.
FAO deals are priced by FTE, by transaction or against outcomes such as DSO, days to close or cost per invoice. Outcome-based pricing shifts risk to the provider but needs clean baseline data. Whatever the model, insist on service levels with credits and a clear exit plan that includes knowledge transfer.
FAO is the transfer of finance processes such as record to report, procure to pay, order to cash and FP&A to an outside provider that runs them under service levels, usually from global or nearshore delivery centers.
An outsourced accountant or bookkeeper covers a small company’s books. FAO is an operating model for an entire finance function, with process design, controls, automation and reporting built in. Smaller companies may be better served by remote accounting services.
Transitions commonly run several months, from process documentation and knowledge transfer to parallel runs and stabilization. Multi-country scopes take longer, so phase the rollout by process or region.
Usually not entirely. Companies tend to keep the controller, FP&A leadership and business partnering roles in house and outsource the transaction processing and reconciliation work underneath them.
Offshore centers in India and the Philippines offer the largest scale. Nearshore hubs in Latin America give more time zone overlap with US teams. Many large providers offer both, and Auxis combines its nearshore hubs with offshore capacity.
If you run a global finance organization, the shortlist starts with Genpact, Accenture, WNS, EXL, Infosys BPM and Wipro, each with its own platform and analyst recognition. Sutherland and Datamatics are strong where outcome-based pricing or very high document volumes matter. For mid-market companies, Auxis offers nearshore delivery in US time zones, and Embark offers onshore teams with CFO-level depth.
Whichever direction you take, test providers on your own processes and data, and look at how they would handle your close calendar and audit. For related reading, see our list of business process outsourcing companies.
