Swansea’s web design market runs from public sector specialists on the SA1 waterfront to one and two person studios on the Gower, so the right choice depends far more on fit than on size.
For this list we checked each studio’s own website, including contact, about and portfolio pages, and where needed a published business record. Every firm here has an office or studio in Swansea or a nearby town (we name the town where it is outside the city centre), a live site with current work, and web design as a core service. We excluded agencies that only publish a “web design Swansea” landing page while being based in Derby, Milford Haven or elsewhere, a studio that has closed, a firm that no longer lists a Swansea office, and directories.
Each entry covers where the studio is, what it builds and on which platforms, the evidence it publishes (named clients, founding year, accreditations), any pricing it lists, and who it suits.

S8080 has its head office at Unit 27, Innovation Matrix, Kings Road, in Swansea’s SA1 waterfront district, with a second office in Reading. It was founded in 2000 by Matt Howard and has since moved into employee ownership, held by a trust on behalf of staff.
The agency designs and builds secure, user-centred websites and digital services, mostly for the public sector, covering usability research, design and development end to end. Its case studies show work in Drupal, Umbraco, WordPress and EPiServer, and it offers bilingual Welsh and English delivery.
The client list is the strongest in the city. S8080 names the Welsh Government, Number 10, National Highways, Careers Wales, CITB, the Financial Ombudsman Service and Natural Resources Wales, with projects such as an Umbraco 8 to 13 upgrade for National Highways and Business Wales alignment with GOV.WALES standards. It holds ISO 27001 registration, is a Crown Commercial Service supplier on G-Cloud and Digital Outcomes, and publishes its day rates.
It suits government departments, councils, royal colleges, charities and other organisations that need accessible, compliant sites and a supplier that can be bought through public frameworks.
Waters Creative describes itself as a full-service Swansea agency, and its privacy policy gives its address as 6 Axis Court, Mallard Way, in the Swansea Vale business area. It combines web builds with brand and graphic design, social media and accessible PDF design.
On the web side it builds on Shopify, WordPress and React, and it is a Shopify Plus Partner, which makes it one of the stronger local choices for larger ecommerce projects. Recent portfolio projects include Oak Toy Box, Blue Coffee Box, Tatami Fightwear, Bitmap Books, Melin Tregwynt and a Marston’s careers site, plus a 2025 annual report project for Transport for Wales.
Client logos on its site include Marston’s, Winmau, Transport for Wales, NHS Wales, Dents Gloves, the Welsh Government and Coaltown Coffee. It holds ISO 9001 and Cyber Essentials certification and the BS 8555 environmental standard. It does not publish a founding year or prices.
It suits consumer brands moving to or scaling on Shopify, and public bodies that need web, design and accessible documents from one supplier.
Thomas Design is a Swansea web agency founded in 2001. Its office is at Unit 5, Dyffryn Court, Riverside Business Park, in Llansamlet, and the company has recently moved its website to a new domain. Business records list it as a small team of around six staff.
Its services cover website design and bespoke development, ecommerce, WordPress, mobile apps, SEO, Google Ads, branding and print, plus business web hosting. That range means clients can keep build, hosting and ongoing marketing with one local firm.
Clients cited for the agency include Builders Hardware Direct, National Plastics, The Oldwalls Collection, Gower Brewery and Gravells. Projects are quoted individually rather than from a price list, so expect a discovery conversation before you see a figure.
With more than two decades of trading, it suits established Swansea and South Wales SMEs, particularly trade suppliers and ecommerce retailers, that want a long-standing local partner for both the website and the hosting behind it.
SA1 Creative is a Swansea-based web and graphic design studio working from Systems House on Phoenix Way, Garngoch Industrial Estate, in Gorseinon, about seven miles from the city centre. It offers web design, SEO, branding, graphic design and print, along with an all-inclusive package.
Its portfolio leans towards tourism, hospitality and events. The studio built online booking systems and websites for the National Showcaves Centre for Wales at Dan-yr-Ogof, a new online experience for Morgans in Swansea, and web design and SEO for Front Runner, the organiser behind the Swansea Half Marathon.
Other named clients include Dawsons, for which it designs and manages the website, Harris & Birt estate agents in Cowbridge, and Llandarcy Academy of Sport, which uses the studio for print, web and marketing. Pricing is not published.
It suits attractions, hotels, event organisers and property firms that need booking or listing features and someone to manage the site after launch.
Primedia Marketing works from Mount Pleasant Business Centre in central Swansea and says it has built and looked after websites from the city since 2016. The web work is led by Adam Rees, who builds sites from the Swansea studio.
Most business sites are built in WordPress with Elementor, online shops on Shopify, and bespoke builds are used when neither fits. The studio also runs Google Ads, social media, SEO, email marketing and AI strategy, so a new site can be launched with traffic behind it.
Pricing is unusually clear. Sites start from £499 plus VAT, most Swansea business sites land between that and a few thousand pounds, and a fixed price is agreed in writing before work starts. Hosting and domains are billed separately, and a small business site typically takes three to five weeks once content is supplied. Named clients include Boutique Competitions, John Mark Films and Morgan Jones Property.
It suits sole traders and small firms that want a known cost, a quick turnaround and the option to add ads or SEO later.
Clockwork Bear is based at 54 Mansel Street in Swansea city centre. It specialises in highly scalable bespoke online software, so its web design work sits closer to product development than to brochure sites.
Services include custom web design, UI and UX design, bespoke software and mobile app development, MVP builds for start-ups, CMS work and ongoing support. That mix suits projects where the website is the product, such as booking platforms, portals or subscription services.
Its portfolio includes Hoowla, a responsive conveyancing platform, and Thrill Me, a horror content discovery service built with PHP, MySQL and third-party APIs. It has also produced a website for the Swansea Carers Centre and a set of infographics on the UK food industry for Focus Management Consultants. Quotes are free, and no prices are published.
It suits start-ups and established firms that need a web application or platform built properly, as well as charities that want a developer-led team for a more complex site.
NB:Design works from a studio overlooking the sea at Channel View, Llangennith, on the Gower peninsula within the City and County of Swansea. It is run by Philip Griffiths, a photographer and film-maker, and Jane Fraser, an award-winning writer who handles copywriting.
The pair build websites on Squarespace, WordPress and Drupal, and also cover brand identity, logos, brochures, packaging, signage and exhibition design. Because photography and copy are done in-house, clients can get a finished site without hiring separate writers or photographers. After launch, the studio offers tutorials or a monthly website management package.
Named clients include Angel Chambers, Civitas Law, Bayview Oxwich, Clydey Cottages, Carreg Wen, Radian Technology Development, Relcom and Vaughan Roofing + Scaffolding, alongside several authors and the Llangennith Parish Hall. Prices are not published.
It suits Gower tourism businesses, holiday lets, barristers’ chambers, authors and professional firms that value strong photography and writing as much as the build itself.
WebDev Wales is based in Glynneath, in Neath Port Talbot, about 25 minutes from Swansea, and is a trading name of Hobbl Ltd. It serves Swansea Bay clients directly and holds a 5.0 average across its Google reviews, several of them from Swansea businesses.
The studio focuses on custom-coded websites and fuller professional builds, with Google Business Profile management as an add-on. Its portfolio spans hospitality, fitness, construction and IT, with named clients including Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary, KGB Gym, Cymru ProAir Systems and Datanet Group.
Pricing is published and excludes VAT: custom-coded websites from £675, professional builds from £1,350, a monthly plan from £39, and Google Business Profile management at £99 a month. Having those figures up front makes it easy to compare against quotes from studios in the city itself.
It suits start-ups, trades and small venues in Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea that want a hand-built site rather than a template, with costs known in advance.
Search for web design Swansea and you will find several agencies based in England or west Wales running city landing pages. Check the contact page or privacy policy for an address. S8080 on Kings Road, Clockwork Bear on Mansel Street and Primedia in Mount Pleasant are all a short walk from the city centre, while SA1 Creative in Gorseinon and WebDev Wales in Glynneath are close enough for face-to-face meetings.
Match the studio to the job. Public bodies need the accessibility and framework experience of S8080, Shopify retailers will get more from a Shopify Plus partner such as Waters Creative, and app-style projects suit a developer-led team like Clockwork Bear. A web design agency Swansea businesses use for branding and copy as well, such as NB:Design, makes sense when the content does not yet exist.
As a typical UK market range, a small brochure site from a local studio costs around £500 to £3,000, a bespoke WordPress or Shopify build £3,000 to £15,000, and complex ecommerce or public sector platforms £15,000 and upwards. Primedia (from £499) and WebDev Wales (from £675) publish entry prices at the lower end. Ask whether hosting, maintenance and content are included.
Ask for live links to projects like yours, then visit them on a phone. SA1 Creative’s booking sites for Dan-yr-Ogof and Waters Creative’s Shopify stores are easy to test, and S8080’s public sector work can be checked against accessibility standards.
A small site usually takes three to six weeks once content is ready, while bespoke and ecommerce builds often take two to four months. Get the scope and fixed price in writing, confirm who owns the site and domain, and check any minimum term on hosting or monthly plans before you commit.
The top web design studios in Swansea cover very different needs. Public bodies should start with S8080, ecommerce brands with Waters Creative, and established SMEs wanting hosting and marketing alongside the build with Thomas Design. SA1 Creative suits booking and events sites, Primedia Marketing and WebDev Wales suit small budgets with fixed prices, Clockwork Bear suits custom platforms, and NB:Design suits Gower businesses that want photography and copy included.
Before you sign with any web design Swansea studio, check five things: a real local address, live examples of similar work, a fixed written scope and price, who owns the finished site and domain, and what ongoing support and hosting will cost each month.
