A retail and consumer executive search firm recruits CEOs, presidents, chief merchants, marketing leaders, supply chain heads and board directors for retailers, consumer brands, restaurant and hospitality groups, and the private equity firms that own them. The sector moves fast. Channel shifts, private label pressure, activist investors and changing shopper habits mean that the leader who built a brand in stores may not be the right one to scale it online, and a good search partner knows the difference.
This list of the top retail and consumer executive search firms for 2027 is built for boards, CEOs, HR leaders and investors who need a reliable shortlist. It combines the consumer practices of the largest global firms with long-established retail specialists and mid-sized firms that are actively growing their consumer teams. Every firm was verified on its own website, which had to market retail or consumer search clearly, and through at least one independent source such as trade press coverage of a named search or hire. You can find related lists and guides in our executive search and recruiting hub.
Firms are ranked on the depth of their consumer practice, the seniority of the searches they are publicly linked to, and the specifics they share about their teams and results.

Large firms serve many consumer clients, and they usually cannot recruit from companies they currently work for. Ask each firm which competitors are off limits and for how long. A specialist with fewer conflicts can sometimes reach more of the candidates you want.
C-suite and board searches are typically retained, while some functional roles are filled on contingency. Our guides to retained vs contingency search and executive search fees explain the trade-offs.
Many retail leadership roles now need e-commerce, data and customer experience skills alongside merchandising and store operations. Ask how the firm tests those skills, and whether it uses structured assessment rather than relying on résumés and references alone.
Check the guarantee period, what triggers a replacement search, and what support the firm offers during the new leader’s first months. Ask how long its recent consumer placements have stayed in role.
