Short answer: To cancel Chewy Autoship, sign in at chewy.com, go to Your Account, open Manage Autoship, and click Cancel This Autoship at the bottom of the Autoship page, or call Chewy at 1-800-672-4399, which is open 24/7. Changes must be made before 12:00 a.m. on the day before your ship date, so watch for the pre-shipment email Chewy sends up to 72 hours ahead. The catch: cancelling Autoship does not cancel a Chewy+ membership, and each Autoship you have set up has to be cancelled on its own.
This guide covers how to cancel Chewy Autoship on the website, in the app and by phone, how to skip a shipment or change the frequency instead, and how to cancel a single Chewy order before it ships. It also explains the separate Chewy+ paid membership, Chewy’s 365-day return promise, and what to do about prescription items on Autoship. Every step comes from Chewy’s own Autoship terms, Autoship help page and Chewy+ terms, checked in October 2026.
Chewy bills every one of these itself, but they are separate programs with separate cancel buttons. Match the charge first.
| What your statement or account shows | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
|---|---|---|
| Chewy order charge every few weeks | Chewy, for an Autoship order | Your Account, Manage Autoship, Cancel This Autoship |
| A pending hold about a day before a delivery | Chewy authorization hold for an upcoming Autoship (not a charge yet) | Edit or cancel the Autoship before 12:00 a.m. the day before the ship date |
| A $59 Chewy charge once a year | Chewy, for a Chewy+ membership | Your Chewy account, or 1-800-672-4399 |
| Chewy Pharmacy or a prescription item | Chewy Pharmacy, LLC | Manage Autoship for the order; the pharmacy team for prescription questions |
| A single order you just placed | Chewy, a one-time order | Customer Service at 1-800-672-4399 as soon as possible |
| CarePlus pet insurance or a wellness plan | A separate Chewy insurance or plan product | That plan’s own account or terms (not covered here) |
Chewy’s Autoship terms say you can cancel at any time through Autoship Manager under Your Account. Chewy’s Autoship page gives the button names.
Only want to drop one product? You do not have to cancel the whole Autoship. Choose Remove next to that item on the Manage Autoship page and confirm, and the rest of the Autoship keeps shipping.
For a wider clean-up of recurring charges, our guide on how to cancel subscriptions online shows how to find every subscription on your cards.
Chewy Autoship is billed by Chewy, not by Apple or Google, so the Chewy app gives you the same Autoship controls as the website.
Deleting the Chewy app does nothing to your Autoship. Shipments keep coming until you cancel them in your account or by phone.
The Autoship terms name Customer Service at 800-672-4399 as the other way to cancel, and Chewy lists the line as available 24/7.
If you have just got too much food or litter on hand, skipping or slowing down the schedule keeps your Autoship price without the pile-up. All of these live on the Manage Autoship page.
The Autoship terms also let you change the schedule on a one-time basis, plus your shipping address, payment method and items, at any time before the cutoff.
A single order is different from an Autoship. Chewy’s Terms of Use say no sale is complete until shipment, but Chewy does not publish a guaranteed window for cancelling a one-time order, and its orders ship quickly. Act fast.
Prescription medications and veterinary diets are sold through Chewy Pharmacy, LLC and need a valid prescription or vet authorization. You can still cancel or skip them in Manage Autoship like any other item, but a few things are different.
This guide is not veterinary advice.
Yes, Chewy+ exists, and it is a separate paid membership from Autoship. Chewy lists it at $59 a year with a 30-day free trial. Benefits include free shipping with no order minimum, Chewy+ Rewards (5% back on cat and dog food and health and pharmacy items, 2% on veterinary diets and other purchases), one free virtual vet visit a year and member offers. Chewy updated the Chewy+ terms on October 5, 2026 for new subscriptions and renewals after November 4, 2026.
Cancelling Chewy+ does not cancel your Autoships, and cancelling Autoship does not cancel Chewy+. Do both if you want to stop everything. Amazon shoppers comparing pet supply costs can also see our guide on how to cancel Amazon Prime.
| Moment | What Chewy does | What you can still do |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 72 hours before the ship date | Sends a pre-shipment email with the order and price | Skip, edit or cancel |
| About 24 hours before the ship date | Places an authorization hold on your payment method | Edit or cancel until 12:00 a.m. the day before the ship date |
| 12:00 a.m. the day before the ship date | The edit window for that order closes | Call Customer Service, or return the order after it arrives |
| Order ships | The charge posts | Return under Chewy’s return policy |
Chewy also says it will not raise the price of an order once it is authorized: you pay the price in the pre-shipment email, or less if the price drops before authorization. Once you cancel an Autoship, no further orders are created from it. You lose the Autoship discount on those items, and if you were a new Autoship customer, the first-order offer Chewy advertises (35% off up to a $20 maximum on eligible items) applies only to the first order. Your Chewy account, order history and any Chewy+ membership stay as they are.
Chewy’s product pages advertise free 365-day returns: “If you and your pet aren’t 100% satisfied, no worries. Just send your items back within a year, at no cost to you.” Autoship orders follow the same Return Policy, per the Autoship terms. Chewy’s help center says you can start a return in the Chewy app with free return shipping, and Customer Care can help at 1-800-672-4399.
For Autoship billing, the main protection is timing: Chewy places only an authorization hold before an order ships and does not charge you until it ships. If you cancel in time, the hold drops off and there is nothing to refund.
For Chewy+, the refund rules are written into the membership terms:
| Option | Where | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cancel This Autoship | Manage Autoship | Ends all future shipments for that Autoship | You no longer want the product on a schedule |
| Skip Shipment | Manage Autoship | Skips the next order only | You have extra stock this cycle |
| Change frequency or next order date | Change links on Manage Autoship | Spaces orders out or moves the next one (date changes up to 48 hours before) | Your pet eats less than you planned |
| Remove an item | Manage Autoship | Drops one product and keeps the rest | Changing food or litter brands |
| Cancel Chewy+ | Your account or 1-800-672-4399 | Stops the $59 yearly membership renewing | You do not use the free shipping or rewards |
| Problem | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| An order still shipped after you cancelled | You cancelled after 12:00 a.m. on the day before the ship date | Return it free under the 365-day policy, or call 1-800-672-4399 |
| Another Autoship keeps arriving | You have more than one Autoship and only cancelled one | Open Manage Autoship and cancel each one |
| A pending charge appears before delivery | It is an authorization hold placed about 24 hours before the ship date | Cancel before the cutoff and the hold drops off; otherwise the charge posts when it ships |
| Still charged $59 a year | Chewy+ is separate from Autoship | Cancel Chewy+ in your account or by phone |
| Cannot change the next order date | Date changes close 48 hours before the scheduled order | Skip the shipment or call Customer Service |
| Prescription Autoship will not restart | Chewy has to verify the prescription with your vet again | Call the pharmacy team at 877-977-3879 and contact your vet clinic |
| Charged a different card than expected | If the chosen card fails, Chewy may charge another card on your account | Update or remove old cards in your account |
Keep a written record of every cancellation: screenshots of Manage Autoship, confirmation emails and notes from phone calls with dates and names. If Chewy keeps shipping and charging after a cancellation that beat the cutoff, ask your card issuer to dispute the charges or block future ones, as a backstop rather than a first step.
You can also report the problem to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov or your state attorney general. The FTC’s “click-to-cancel” rule was vacated by the Eighth Circuit in July 2025, but the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA) still requires an easy way to stop recurring online charges, and California and other states have automatic renewal laws. This is general information, not legal advice.
Sign in, go to Your Account, Manage Autoship, and click Cancel This Autoship at the bottom of the page, or call 1-800-672-4399. Do it before 12:00 a.m. on the day before your ship date to stop the next order.
Open the order in your account and use the cancel option if one is shown; if not, call 1-800-672-4399 right away. Once an order ships it cannot be cancelled, but you can return it free within 365 days.

Chewy’s Autoship terms do not list a cancellation fee. You simply stop getting the Autoship discount on future orders.
12:00 a.m. on the day before your ship date. Chewy sends a pre-shipment email up to 72 hours before the ship date as your reminder.
Go to Manage Autoship and click Skip Shipment. Only the next order is skipped, and the schedule continues after it.

Yes, within 3 business days of joining or of a trial converting to paid, or later if you made no eligible purchases and used no benefits since the last charge. Otherwise the fee is not refundable.
Your first order is charged when placed. Later orders get an authorization hold about 24 hours before the ship date, and the charge posts when the order ships.
Cancel it in Manage Autoship like any other Autoship, but check with your vet before stopping a medication. For pharmacy questions, call 877-977-3879.
No. Autoship keeps running until you cancel it in your account or by phone.
