Irwin Brar is a Canadian entrepreneur and real estate operator known for his hands-on approach to construction, housing, and long-term asset management. As CEO of Apex Construction and COO of Ridge Apartments, he leads the development and operation of multifamily residential communities, branded hotel properties, and specialty retail ventures across Western Canada.
Born in Vancouver and raised in an Indian immigrant family, Brar’s early exposure to entrepreneurship began when his family relocated to Alberta to establish a foothold in the hotel industry. His upbringing, combined with time spent at a boarding school in India, shaped a strong work ethic and a practical, execution-focused mindset that continues to define his leadership style.
Brar began his career by learning the construction trade directly from his father, gaining firsthand experience in building and project execution. In 2018, he launched Apex Construction, scaling it into a company that now delivers over 400 affordable housing units annually. Through Ridge Apartments, he extends that work beyond development into long-term operations, ensuring consistency in tenant experience, maintenance, and asset performance.
His vertically integrated model allows him to control both construction and operations, reducing inefficiencies and enabling scalable growth. In addition to housing, Brar owns and operates hotel properties under major global brands including Hilton and IHG, applying the same operational discipline across sectors.
Known for prioritizing execution over theory, Brar focuses on cost control, build efficiency, and long-term value creation. His work is grounded in delivering reliable housing at scale while maintaining quality and operational consistency.
Outside of business, Brar is passionate about automotive design and performance, actively participating in car culture through collecting, modifying, and showcasing vehicles. He is also committed to community impact, contributing to charitable initiatives including monthly food bank drives and support for local youth programs.
