How To Cancel EA Play And Get A Refund In 2026

If EA bills you directly, cancel in your EA Account under Subscriptions and Memberships. If you subscribed through Steam or the Epic Games Store, EA cannot cancel it and you have to contact that store’s support instead.

That second point is the one that wastes people’s time. EA is explicit that it cannot cancel a Steam or Epic subscription on your behalf, and there is no path inside EA’s own account settings that will do it.

The other common dead end is the opposite problem. If you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, EA Play is included as a benefit rather than existing as a separate subscription. There is nothing to cancel. It ends when your Game Pass does, and going looking for an EA Play entry to switch off will not find one.

Prices also rose in 2026, which is why a lot of people are looking at this now. EA Play went from $4.99 to $5.99 a month and from $29.99 to $39.99 a year.

    What This Guide Covers

    Cancel Where You Subscribed

Where you subscribed How to cancel
EA app or ea.com EA Account, then the Subscriptions and Memberships tab, then Cancel membership and confirm
Steam Contact Steam Support. EA cannot cancel it for you
Epic Games Store Contact Epic Support. EA cannot cancel it for you
PlayStation Sign in, open Subscription, and Turn Off Auto-Renew next to EA Play. PlayStation Support can cancel immediately if needed
Xbox account.microsoft.com, Services and subscriptions, Manage next to EA Play
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass Nothing to cancel. It is a bundled benefit and ends with your Game Pass

The Steam and Epic cases are worth repeating because they surprise people. You bought a subscription to an EA product, but the billing relationship is with the store, and EA’s support team has no ability to end it. Go to that store first rather than opening an EA ticket.

One more that no longer applies but still catches searches: EA Play through Amazon Luna. Amazon ended third-party subscription support on Luna during 2026, auto-cancelling those subscriptions at the next billing cycle and ending the associated EA access, without refunds. If that was your route, it has already been handled for you.

Game Pass Members: There Is Nothing To Cancel

EA Play comes with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and with PC Game Pass. It is a benefit of those subscriptions, not a separate line item, so it does not appear as something you can switch off.

Two things follow from that. If you want EA Play gone, you are actually cancelling Game Pass. And if you are paying separately for both, you are paying twice, so cancel the standalone EA Play subscription and keep the Game Pass one.

Note that the lower Game Pass tiers do not include EA Play. Only Ultimate and PC Game Pass do, so if you are on Essential or Premium and you want EA Play, you need it separately.

There is also a conversion rule that catches people who buy Ultimate while already holding EA Play for Xbox. Remaining EA Play time converts at three to one, so 90 days of EA Play becomes 30 days of Ultimate. Worth knowing before you stack them.

Tiers And The 2026 Price Rise

Tier Monthly Annual What it gives you
EA Play $5.99 $39.99 The Play List library, up to 10 hours of trials on select new games, 10% off EA digital purchases, monthly in-game rewards
EA Play Pro $16.99 $119.99 Best editions of the latest games, day-one or early access to select releases, 10% off, monthly rewards

The 2026 increase moved EA Play from $4.99 to $5.99 monthly and from $29.99 to $39.99 annually, with EA Play Pro going from $14.99 to $16.99 monthly and $99.99 to $119.99 annually. The annual EA Play rise is the steep one at roughly a third.

If the price is the issue rather than the service, note that Game Pass Ultimate at $22.99 includes EA Play along with Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics, which changes the maths if you would use the rest of it.

What Happens To Your Games And Saves

Access to The Play List ends, so any game you were playing from the library stops unless you own it separately. That is the expected part.

The reassuring part is saves. EA states that you keep your game progress as long as you do not manually delete your save files. So if you buy the game later, or resubscribe, you pick up where you left off rather than starting again. That makes EA Play unusually low-risk to cancel and return to.

Trials work the same way in principle. The 10-hour trial is a membership benefit and ends with the membership, but trial progress carries into the full game if you buy it.

Anything you bought outright, including at the 10 per cent member discount, is unaffected. Using that discount on something you actually want before cancelling is the sensible last act of a membership.

EA Play Refunds And The Great Game Guarantee

These are two separate policies and only one of them is generous.

EA Play memberships are generally not refundable. EA’s wording leaves the door open, saying that if you think you might be entitled to a refund you should contact them to request one, and limited exceptions exist such as upgrading to EA Play Pro. In the EU there is also a 14-day right of withdrawal if you have not accessed the subscription. Outside those cases, expect the answer to be no.

The Great Game Guarantee covers games you buy, not the subscription, and it is one of the better policies in the industry:

    Situation Window
You have launched the game 24 hours after first launch
You have not launched it 14 days from purchase
Unlaunched pre-order Any time before the release date
Bought within 30 days of release and unplayable due to EA technical problems Extended to 72 hours after first launch

The 24-hour post-launch window is the notable one. Most stores measure playtime; EA measures elapsed time from when you first opened it, so a game you launched and disliked is refundable the same day even if you played it for six hours.

When The Cancellation Does Not Stick

Symptom Likely cause What to do
No EA Play entry in your EA Account It came with Game Pass, or Steam, Epic, PlayStation or Xbox holds the billing Check the receipt. If it is Game Pass, there is nothing to cancel separately
EA support says they cannot cancel it You subscribed through Steam or Epic Contact Steam Support or Epic Support directly. EA genuinely cannot do this
Charged after cancelling Two subscriptions on different platforms Check EA, Steam, Epic, PlayStation and Microsoft accounts in turn
Play List games stopped working The membership ended Expected. Your saves survive, so buying the game restores your progress
Refund refused on the membership EA Play is generally not refundable Ask anyway if the circumstances are unusual, and cite the EU withdrawal right if you are in the EU and have not used it
EA Play access ended without you cancelling Your Game Pass lapsed, or an Amazon Luna subscription was auto-cancelled Check the parent subscription rather than EA Play itself

    Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Cancel EA Play?

In your EA Account, open the Subscriptions and Memberships tab and choose Cancel membership. If you subscribed through Steam, Epic, PlayStation or Xbox, cancel at that platform instead, because EA cannot do it for you.

How Do I Cancel EA Play If I Bought It On Steam?

You have to contact Steam Support. EA states plainly that it cannot cancel a Steam-purchased EA Play membership, and there is no route in EA’s own settings that will work.

Do I Need To Cancel EA Play If I Have Game Pass?

No. EA Play is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as a benefit rather than a separate subscription, so there is nothing to cancel. It ends when your Game Pass does.

Can I Get A Refund On EA Play?

Generally no. EA says memberships are not usually refundable but invites you to contact them if you believe you qualify. Limited exceptions exist, and EU customers have a 14-day right of withdrawal if the subscription has not been accessed.

Do I Lose My Save Files If I Cancel EA Play?

No. EA states that you keep your game progress as long as you do not manually delete your save files, so buying the game or resubscribing later picks up where you left off.

How Much Is EA Play In 2026?

EA Play is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year, and EA Play Pro is $16.99 a month or $119.99 a year. Prices rose in 2026 from $4.99 and $29.99 for EA Play.

What Is The Great Game Guarantee?

EA’s refund policy for game purchases, separate from the subscription. It covers 24 hours after you first launch a game, 14 days from purchase if you have not launched it, any time before release for an unlaunched pre-order, and 72 hours after launch for technical problems on recent releases.

What Happened To EA Play On Amazon Luna?

Amazon ended third-party subscription support on Luna during 2026, auto-cancelling those subscriptions at the next billing cycle and ending the associated EA access, with no refunds. If that was your route, it has already ended.

    The Short Version

Check the receipt before anything else. EA billing means EA Account, Subscriptions and Memberships, Cancel membership. Steam and Epic mean contacting that store, because EA cannot cancel those. PlayStation and Xbox mean that console’s subscription settings.

If you have Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, EA Play is bundled and there is nothing to cancel, and if you are also paying separately then cancel the standalone one. Memberships are generally not refundable, but your save files survive, so cancelling and coming back later costs you nothing but the subscription itself.
