Short answer: To cancel Grammarly, sign in on the web, open Account, then Your account, then Subscription, and click Cancel Subscription at the bottom of the page. If you paid through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel with Apple or Google instead. Canceling stops the next renewal and you keep paid features until the period ends, but the catch is that Grammarly says refunds are issued only if required by law.
Knowing how to cancel Grammarly takes two minutes once you know where the button is, but a few things trip people up: Grammarly has renamed its plans (Premium and Business have been folded into Grammarly Pro), the company is now part of Superhuman, and anyone who subscribed inside the mobile or Safari app is billed by Apple or Google rather than Grammarly. This guide uses Grammarly’s own help center, checked today, to walk you through every route, explain the refund policy as written, and show you how canceling differs from deleting your account. If you are reviewing several subscriptions at once, our guide on how to cancel subscriptions online is a good starting point.
| Where you signed up or what your statement says | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
|---|---|---|
| Grammarly website, or a charge from Grammarly or Superhuman | Grammarly (Superhuman) | account.grammarly.com/subscription |
| APPLE.COM/BILL, or you subscribed in the Grammarly keyboard app or Grammarly for Safari | Apple | Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions (or the Mac App Store) |
| A Google Play charge, or you subscribed in the Grammarly app on Android | Google Play | Google Play, then Subscriptions |
| Team plan (Pro with several seats, Plus or legacy Business) | Grammarly, under your team’s admin | The admin cancels from the Subscription page |
| Bought through Grammarly’s Sales team or on an invoice | Grammarly, under a sales agreement | Your Customer Success Manager or Grammarly Support |
If you are searching for how to cancel Grammarly Premium, you may not see the word Premium anywhere in your account anymore. Grammarly’s plans page now lists three plans:
Grammarly’s help center still refers to Grammarly Premium, Grammarly Plus and Grammarly Business, because older subscriptions on those plans are still running. The cancel button lives in the same place for all of them. Grammarly is also now part of Superhuman, and its help articles say that canceling through a linked Grammarly account applies across the Superhuman suite, so check whether you rely on any other Superhuman app before you cancel.
Your exact price depends on billing period, any promotional rate and the number of seats, so use the renewal amount shown on your Subscription page rather than the headline price.
This is the route for anyone who subscribed on grammarly.com, whether on Premium, Pro or a single-seat plan. Grammarly says mobile users can do this too by visiting account.grammarly.com in a phone browser. The steps come from Grammarly’s help article How do I cancel my subscription?
If you do not see a Cancel Subscription button, Grammarly says the most likely reason is that you are signed in to the wrong account. If you cannot get into the paid account at all, contact Grammarly Support through its request form.
Grammarly states that subscriptions bought through the App Store must be canceled through Apple. That covers purchases made in the Grammarly keyboard app on iPhone or iPad and in Grammarly for Safari on a Mac. Apple’s steps from its cancel a subscription page:
On iPhone or iPad:
On a Mac:
If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, Apple says the subscription is already canceled. If you are on a trial billed by Apple, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Grammarly’s support site confirms that it sells subscriptions through Google Play, but its cancel article only covers the web and Apple. If Google Play bills you, cancel through Google using the steps on Google’s cancel a subscription page:
Uninstalling the Grammarly keyboard does not cancel the subscription. Google says you keep access for the time you have already paid for after canceling.
Grammarly Pro currently comes with a 7-day free trial. According to Grammarly’s free trial help article, canceling a trial works differently from canceling a paid plan: the trial ends immediately and your account converts to the free version with no charge. Your documents and data are kept.
If you started the trial inside the iPhone or Android app, cancel it through Apple or Google Play instead, using the steps above.
On team subscriptions (Grammarly Pro with several members, Grammarly Plus and legacy Grammarly Business), only an admin can cancel. Grammarly’s admin cancellation article gives these steps:
Canceling stops automatic renewal, and the team keeps paid features until the current billing period ends. On Grammarly Business, Grammarly says canceling also dissolves the team when the paid period ends. Members keep their own Grammarly accounts.
If you only want to shrink a team rather than cancel, Grammarly says Pro and Plus admins can remove members on the Members page, then use Update plan on the Subscription page to change the seat count, which takes effect at the next billing cycle. If your company bought Grammarly through its sales team, contact your Customer Success Manager or Grammarly Support instead of using the self-serve button.
If you are a team member rather than an admin, you cannot cancel the company plan. Ask your admin to remove you; their contact details are listed on the Subscription page. Teams cutting back on tools at the same time often review Notion and ChatGPT Plus too.
Renewal. Grammarly’s Subscriptions Billing Policy says subscriptions renew automatically using the payment method on file, at the standard rate when the current term ends. Promotional prices apply for one subscription period only, so a discounted first year renews at full price. Promo pricing also applies only to the first seat.
Deadline. Grammarly says you can cancel automatic renewal at any time and does not publish a cutoff before the renewal date. Cancel a few days before the date shown on your Subscription page to be safe. For Apple billed plans, Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, so cancel earlier than that.
Access. After you cancel a paid plan, you keep paid features until the end of your current subscription period. Then your account drops to Grammarly Free. Your account and saved documents stay in place unless you delete the account.
Superhuman apps. If your Grammarly account is linked to Superhuman, Grammarly says the cancellation applies across the Superhuman suite.
Grammarly’s refund article is short and strict: refunds are issued only if required by law. Canceling does not entitle you to a refund, and Grammarly’s Superhuman billing article adds that previous charges are not refunded when you cancel. The full terms are in Grammarly’s Terms of Service.
A few situations are different:
| Option | What it does | Your documents | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cancel subscription | Stops auto-renewal; paid features last until the period ends, then the account becomes Free | Kept | You want to stop paying but keep using the free checker |
| Cancel a free trial | Ends the trial immediately and converts to Free with no charge | Kept | You are still inside the 7-day Pro trial |
| Reduce team seats | Removes members and lowers the seat count at the next billing cycle | Kept; removed members keep their accounts | A team that needs fewer licenses |
| Delete account | Removes your personal information and documents saved in the Grammarly Editor; cannot be undone | Deleted | You are done with Grammarly entirely |
Deleting your account is not the same as canceling. Grammarly’s delete account article says that on a free account you can sign in, open the Profile page and click Delete Account at the bottom. If a paid subscription is still active, you have to submit a support ticket to delete the account. Superhuman users are told to email care@superhuman.com. If you belong to a company plan, ask your admin to remove you first.
| Problem | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No Cancel Subscription button | You are signed in to a free account, not the one that pays, or Apple or Google bills you | Sign in with the paying email; if you subscribed in an app, cancel in Apple or Google Play |
| Charged again after canceling | Grammarly says this usually means a second subscription on another account, often from a mistyped email | Search all your inboxes for Grammarly or Superhuman emails, reset that account’s password, sign in and cancel; or use Grammarly’s Look up a purchase form |
| Subscription page shows a team you do not control | You are a member of a company or team plan | Ask the admin listed on the Subscription page to remove you or cancel |
| Paid in an app but Grammarly shows Free | The App Store or Google Play purchase did not sync to your Grammarly account | On Apple, tap Restore Purchases in the Grammarly app’s Account screen; on Google Play, send Support your order number |
| Renewal price is higher than expected | Promotional prices last one period and extra seats bill at the standard rate | Check the renewal amount on your Subscription page and cancel or change seats before the renewal date |
| Cannot delete the account | A paid subscription is still active | Cancel first or submit a support ticket; Superhuman users email care@superhuman.com |
If the online cancel flow fails and support does not help, keep a written record: screenshots of the Subscription page, emails, ticket numbers and dates. As a backstop, ask your card issuer to block future charges from Grammarly, keeping in mind that this does not cancel the subscription itself. You can also file a report with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov or your state attorney general.
The FTC’s click-to-cancel rule was vacated by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in July 2025, so it is not in effect. The federal Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA) still governs online subscriptions, and California and several other states have automatic renewal laws that require a simple way to cancel. This is general information, not legal advice.
Cancelling other software subscriptions at the same time? Annual plans work very differently at Adobe, where leaving early can cost half of what is left on the contract, so read how to cancel an Adobe subscription before you click cancel there.
Sign in, go to Account, then Your account, then Subscription, and click Cancel Subscription at the bottom. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel with Apple or Google.
Premium subscriptions are canceled in the same place: account.grammarly.com/subscription, then Cancel Subscription. Grammarly has folded Premium into its Pro plan, but existing Premium subscriptions use the same cancel button.
Yes, effectively. Grammarly’s plans page lists Free, Pro and Enterprise, and says Pro includes every advanced writing feature from Premium plus team features from the old Business plan.
Grammarly says refunds are issued only if required by law, and canceling does not entitle you to one. If you were billed in error, submit a support request; if Apple billed you, request the refund from Apple.
No. You keep paid features until the end of your current subscription period, then the account switches to Grammarly Free. Canceling a free trial is the exception, because it ends the trial right away.
If you subscribed in the app, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Grammarly and tap Cancel Subscription. If you subscribed on the website, cancel at account.grammarly.com in your phone’s browser.
An admin opens the Subscription page, clicks Cancel Subscription, selects Yes, continue, picks a reason and confirms. The team keeps access until the paid period ends, and plans bought through Grammarly’s sales team are handled by your Customer Success Manager.
Cancel the subscription separately. Grammarly says you must submit a support ticket to delete an account while a paid subscription is active, and deletion removes your saved documents permanently.
Grammarly says the usual cause is a second paid subscription on a different account. Search your inboxes for Grammarly or Superhuman receipts, sign in to that account and cancel it there.
Grammarly says that if your Grammarly account is linked to Superhuman, canceling applies across the Superhuman suite. Check which apps you use before confirming.
