Short answer: open the DoorDash app or doordash.com, tap the Account icon, then Manage DashPass, then Cancel Membership, pick a reason and confirm with Cancel DashPass. Do it at least 24 hours before your next payment date. If you cancel inside your first 48 hours and have not placed a DashPass order, DoorDash may refund the fee.
Cancelling DashPass takes about a minute once you find the right screen. The trouble is everything around it: a membership you got free through a Chase card or a Lyft promotion that quietly turns into a paid plan, a trial that ends your benefits the moment you cancel, and a subscription billed by Apple that DoorDash cannot touch at all.
This guide covers every route: the standard app and web cancellation, Apple billing on iPhone, partner memberships from Chase, Lyft and others, the pause option, what you keep until the end of the billing period, and the narrow window in which DoorDash may give your money back.
Where you cancel depends on how you joined. Check the charge on your bank or card statement before anything else, because a DashPass that someone else pays for or bills you through will not always show a normal cancel button.
| What your statement says | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
| DOORDASH DASHPASS or DOORDASH | DoorDash directly | DoorDash app or doordash.com, then Manage DashPass |
| APPLE.COM/BILL | Apple App Store | iPhone Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions |
| GOOGLE *DoorDash | Google Play | Play Store, then Payments and subscriptions |
| No DashPass charge, free membership | Chase, Lyft, T-Mobile or another partner benefit | Manage DashPass in the DoorDash app, before the free period ends |
| DashPass charge after a free partner period | DoorDash, now on a paid plan | Manage DashPass, as for any paid member |
In the US, DoorDash’s terms list DashPass at $9.99 a month or $96 a year, which works out at $8 a month on the annual plan. The fee is charged at the start of each period. DoorDash also runs a discounted student plan on a monthly or annual basis, and promotional prices appear from time to time, so the figure on your own Manage DashPass screen is the one that counts.
| Plan | US price | Effective monthly cost | Renews |
| Monthly | $9.99 a month | $9.99 | Every month until cancelled |
| Annual | $96 a year | $8.00 | Every year until cancelled |
| Student DashPass | Discounted, shown at sign-up | Varies | Until cancelled or student status lapses |
| Free trial | $0, usually 7 days for new members | $0 | Converts to $9.99 a month or $96 a year |
| Partner membership | $0 for the promotional period | $0 | Converts to a paid plan unless cancelled |
Every one of these auto-renews. DoorDash’s terms say plainly that once a trial or promotional period ends, you are charged $9.99 a month or $96 a year automatically. That is the line to keep in mind if your DashPass started as a card perk or a partner offer.
For what the fee buys: in the US, DashPass gives $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders above a minimum subtotal from participating stores. Look for the DashPass badge and the fee breakdown at checkout, since the minimums differ between restaurants and grocery or retail orders.
DoorDash’s help centre says you must cancel 24 hours before your next scheduled payment to avoid the next charge, and the DashPass terms say the same thing in different words: at least one day before the renewal date.
Cancelling early on a paid plan does not cost you anything, because you keep the benefits until the end of the period you already paid for. The exception is a free trial or promotion, covered below.
This is the route for most members, whose DashPass is billed by DoorDash directly. The steps are the same on iPhone and Android.
Reopen Manage DashPass afterwards. It should show an end date rather than a renewal date. If it still shows a renewal date, the cancellation did not go through.
The browser route works the same way and is easier when you want to see your billing history at the same time.
If Manage DashPass does not appear, you are probably signed in to a different DoorDash account from the one with the membership. That is common for people who signed up once with a phone number and once with an email address.
Most iPhone users pay DoorDash directly and should use the app steps above. But if your statement shows APPLE.COM/BILL for DashPass, the subscription was bought through the App Store, and only Apple can end it.
Apple subscriptions run to the end of the paid period, and any refund request goes to Apple rather than DoorDash. If DashPass appears in neither your Apple subscriptions nor Manage DashPass, check whether it sits under a different Apple Account or DoorDash login.
On Android, use the in-app steps: Account, Manage DashPass, Cancel Membership. If your statement instead shows a GOOGLE charge for DoorDash, the subscription is held by Google Play:
A large share of DashPass members never paid to join. DoorDash bundles DashPass into card and partner programmes, and the free period always ends the same way: an automatic switch to paid billing. Here is how the main US offers work, according to DoorDash’s terms and its partnership announcements.
| Partner | What you get | What happens after | Where to cancel |
| Chase Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred | Complimentary DashPass when the card is added to your DoorDash account, currently through 31 December 2027 for activated members | Renews as a paid monthly plan when the benefit period ends | Manage DashPass in the DoorDash app |
| Chase Freedom and Slate cards | A shorter complimentary period, six months for newer enrollees | Renews as a paid monthly plan | Manage DashPass in the DoorDash app |
| Lyft | A 3 month DashPass trial for eligible riders not subscribed in the previous six months | Renews at $9.99 a month unless cancelled | Manage DashPass in the DoorDash app |
| T-Mobile | 12 months of DashPass on qualifying plans | Renews as a paid annual plan at the then-current annual fee | Manage DashPass in the DoorDash app |
| Disney+ Perks | 6 months of DashPass | Renews at $9.99 a month unless cancelled | Manage DashPass in the DoorDash app |
Three things catch people out with partner memberships:
Card benefit terms change, so check your card’s benefits page or the DashPass screen for your exact end date. If you plan to keep using the free benefit, you do not need to cancel yet, but put the end date in your calendar now.
The standard DashPass free trial is short. DoorDash’s terms describe a one week trial that runs for seven days from the day you redeem it. Longer trials come from promotions and partners. Cancel with the same Manage DashPass steps as a paid membership.
The catch is timing. DoorDash’s help centre says that if you cancel during a promotional period, your benefits end immediately. So if you have a big order planned, place it first, then cancel, and do it at least 24 hours before the trial converts.
If you cancel before the trial expires, DoorDash’s terms say you are not charged. If the trial has already converted, see the refund section below: the 48 hour window may still help you.
If you only want a break, such as a month of cooking at home or a trip away, pausing may suit you better than cancelling. It stops billing for a set time and then resumes on its own.
The pause lengths on offer vary by account and plan, and pausing may not be available on every membership, such as some partner plans. The key point: a paused DashPass restarts and bills you automatically when the pause ends. If you know you are done, cancel instead.
“Why can’t I cancel my DashPass” is one of the most searched questions about the membership. Almost every case comes down to one of these:
These are separate actions. Most people only need the first.
| Cancel DashPass | Delete DoorDash account | |
| Stops the DashPass charge | Yes | Cancel DashPass first to be sure |
| Keeps order history and addresses | Yes | No |
| Can still order on DoorDash | Yes, at standard fees | No |
| Unused DoorDash credits and gift card balance | Kept | Lost |
| Reversible | Yes, rejoin any time | No, you would open a new account |
| Where to do it | Account, then Manage DashPass | Account settings, then Manage Account, then Delete Account |
DoorDash says it cannot delete your data while you have pending deliveries, so finish or cancel any open orders first. If Apple or Google bills your DashPass, cancel it there as well, because deleting the DoorDash account does not end an app store subscription.
Usually not. DoorDash’s terms state that the DashPass subscription fee is non-refundable and that cancelling does not get you a refund, only continued benefits until the period ends. There is one written exception and a few practical ones:
To ask for the 48 hour refund, cancel first, then open Help in the app, choose the DashPass option and explain that you cancelled within 48 hours without using the benefits. A bank chargeback is the last resort rather than the first move, since disputed charges can lead to account restrictions and support usually resolves things faster when you have your confirmation screenshot.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| Manage DashPass still shows a renewal date | You stopped before tapping Cancel DashPass | Repeat the steps until an end date appears |
| Cancel Membership is missing | Apple, Google or an employer plan holds the membership | Cancel where the billing lives (see the table at the top) |
| Charged the day you cancelled | You cancelled less than 24 hours before renewal | Contact DoorDash support; benefits run for the new period |
| $9.99 charge after a free Chase or Lyft period | The partner promotion converted to paid | Cancel now and ask about the 48 hour no-use refund |
| $96 charge you were not expecting | An annual plan, or a T-Mobile year that converted | Cancel; benefits continue for the year unless refunded |
| Payment error blocks cancelling | A failed DashPass charge on an expired card | Update the card, then cancel, or ask support to cancel |
| Charged months after cancelling | A second DoorDash account | Sign in to each account and check Manage DashPass |
If none of these explains it, go to Help in the app, choose the DashPass option and report the charge with your confirmation email or screenshot attached.
In the DoorDash app or on doordash.com, tap the Account icon, then Manage DashPass, then Cancel Membership, pick a reason and confirm with Cancel DashPass.
$9.99 a month or $96 a year in the US, which is $8 a month on the annual plan. A discounted student plan is also available.
At least 24 hours before your next scheduled payment. The date is on the Manage DashPass screen.
Generally no. The exception is cancelling within the first 48 hours of your first subscription period without placing a DashPass-eligible order, when DoorDash may refund the fee.
Yes, until the end of the billing period you paid for. If you cancel during a free trial or promotion, benefits end immediately.
The same way as any other DashPass: Manage DashPass in the DoorDash app. Chase cannot cancel it for you, and removing the card may only move the charge to another saved card.
Yes. Choose Pause Membership on the Manage DashPass page. Billing restarts automatically when the pause ends.
No. Your account, order history and saved details stay. Deleting the account is a separate step under Manage Account.
Sometimes. DoorDash and partners such as Lyft send trial offers to lapsed members, but eligibility rules apply, such as Lyft’s requirement that you have not had DashPass in the previous six months.
