Short answer: call Xfinity on 1-800-XFINITY (1-800-934-6489), say you want to cancel service, decline the retention offers and ask for a confirmation number. You can also schedule a callback from the cancel page at xfinity.com/cancel or cancel in person at an Xfinity Store. Pick your disconnect date, then return the gateway, TV boxes, remotes and power cords at an Xfinity Store or UPS Store and keep the receipt. Charges are prorated to the day you disconnect.
Cancelling Xfinity is not hard, but it is not one click either. There is no cancel button for home internet and TV, chat will not disconnect you, and the money people lose usually comes after the call: unreturned equipment, a Mobile line that suddenly costs more, or a fee on an older contract.
This guide covers every route, from phone and store cancellation to NOW prepaid internet, Mobile, streaming add-ons, equipment returns and fees.
One Xfinity statement can hide three or four separate subscriptions. Check your bill and bank statement before you call, so you cancel each one in the right place.
| What you see on the bill or statement | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
| COMCAST or XFINITY, with Internet, TV or Voice lines | Comcast directly | Phone, scheduled callback or Xfinity Store |
| Xfinity Mobile lines on the same bill | Comcast (Xfinity Mobile) | Port your number to a new carrier, or contact Xfinity to close the line |
| StreamSaver, or Netflix and Apple TV through Xfinity | Comcast, as an add-on | Xfinity StreamStore, then Manage, then Remove bundle |
| Peacock added on an X1, Xumo Stream Box or Flex box | Comcast | The subscription settings on that TV box |
| PEACOCK or NETFLIX as a separate card charge | Peacock or Netflix directly | That service’s own account page, not Xfinity |
| NOW Internet or NOW TV (prepaid) | Comcast, prepaid | The NOW portal at xfinity.com/now, online |
Whether cancelling costs you anything beyond the final bill depends mostly on when you signed up. In April 2025 Comcast moved its main internet plans to a five-year price guarantee with no annual contract, which means those customers can cancel without an early termination fee. Customers on older promotional deals, especially TV bundles, may still be inside a one or two year agreement.
| Service | Advertised US price (varies by area) | Contract | What to check before cancelling |
| Internet 300 Mbps | From about $45 a month | No annual contract, 5-year price guarantee | Any included Mobile line |
| Internet 500 Mbps | From about $60 a month | No annual contract, 5-year price guarantee | Any included Mobile line |
| Internet 1 Gig | From about $70 a month | No annual contract, 5-year price guarantee | Peacock Premium promotion and Mobile line |
| Older promotional plans and TV bundles | As shown on your bill | May have a minimum term agreement | Early termination fee and end date |
| Xfinity Mobile | Per line, as shown on your bill | No line contract; device payment plans continue | Device balance and number transfer |
| NOW Internet and NOW TV | Prepaid | None | End of the prepaid period |
Prices depend on your address, so your own bill is the figure that matters. To check for a contract, sign in and look under your account settings for contracts or agreements.
Unlike most streaming subscriptions, Xfinity does not make you wait for the end of the billing cycle. When you cancel, Xfinity prorates your service charges to the day of disconnection, so you pay only for the days you had service. That gives you two practical rules:
Keep paying anything already billed until the final statement arrives, or you risk a late fee on an account you thought was closed.
This is where most people get stuck. For standard postpaid Xfinity Internet, TV and Voice, the answer in 2026 is no. Xfinity’s cancel page offers three ways to cancel: calling, scheduling a call, or visiting an Xfinity Store. There is no cancel button in your online account or the Xfinity app.
The Xfinity Assistant chat will not disconnect you either. Xfinity agents have told customers in its own community forums that they are unable to disconnect services through chat, and instead point them to a cancellation request that leads to a phone call from the team. The federal “click to cancel” rule that would have required an online option was struck down by a US appeals court in 2025, so for now the phone or store is the route.
There are two exceptions where you can cancel without calling:
The Xfinity cancel service phone number is 1-800-XFINITY, which is 1-800-934-6489. It handles internet, TV and voice. Before you dial, have your account number, the account holder’s details and your preferred disconnect date ready.
Cancelling at an Xfinity Store has one big advantage: you can return your equipment in the same visit and leave with a receipt showing the serial numbers. That removes the most common source of surprise charges.
For a callback, go to xfinity.com/cancel and choose the option to schedule a call. An agent calls you at the time you pick and runs through the same steps as the phone route.
You do not have to leave Xfinity completely. Plenty of people cancel Xfinity TV and keep internet, or cancel Xfinity internet and keep Mobile. The process is the same call or store visit; you just name the service you are dropping.
Xfinity Mobile works differently from home services, and doing it in the wrong order loses your phone number.
Two money points. If you still owe on a phone, you can pay it off or keep making monthly payments, but only while you keep another Xfinity service. If you cancel everything, the remaining device balance becomes due on your final bill. Data charges on Unlimited lines are split by how much of the billing cycle has passed, while By the Gig data is not prorated.
NOW Internet and NOW TV are Xfinity’s prepaid services, and they are the one part of Xfinity you can cancel online.
There is no refund for unused prepaid time, but service keeps working until the period ends.
Movies and shows you bought stay available in Xfinity Stream under your primary Xfinity ID.
Returning rented equipment is free, and it is the step that decides whether your final bill is clean. Anything Xfinity has not received can be charged as unreturned equipment, and customers have reported charges of around $150 for a single device. You have three ways to return it:
| Return method | How it works | When it clears your account |
| Xfinity Store | Drop off the devices, remotes and power cords; no form needed | Immediately, with a receipt |
| UPS Store | Hand over the equipment; UPS boxes and ships it to Xfinity at no cost | Up to about two weeks |
| UPS prepaid label | Print a label at xfinity.com/returns, box the equipment, then drop it at UPS or book a pickup | Up to about two weeks |
If you have already been charged, it is not too late. Xfinity agents say unreturned equipment charges are reversed once the device is received.
An early termination fee applies only if your services are on a minimum term agreement and you end them before the term runs out. Customers on the no annual contract plans launched in 2025 do not pay one.
If Xfinity serves your new address and you are happy with it, transfer rather than cancel. Xfinity’s moving tool at xfinity.com/moving lets you set a stop date at the old home and a start date at the new one, and a transfer keeps any contract running instead of triggering a fee.
If you are moving somewhere Xfinity does not serve, or you are switching providers anyway, cancel as normal, return your equipment before you pack the truck and give Xfinity a forwarding address for the final bill. Canadians leaving a provider will find the same pattern in our guide to cancelling Bell Internet.
Almost every cancellation call includes an offer to stay, usually a lower price, a cheaper plan or a bill credit. If price is your only reason for leaving, hear it out and get the offer in writing.
If you only need a break, Xfinity has alternatives to cancelling:
| Item | What happens |
| Internet and TV | Stop on the disconnect date; charges prorated to that day |
| Comcast.net email | Kept if you signed in within 90 days before disconnecting; you must keep signing in to stop it closing for inactivity |
| Movies and shows you bought | Still available in Xfinity Stream under your primary Xfinity ID |
| Xfinity WiFi hotspots | Featured hotspots only, unless you keep Xfinity Mobile |
| Xfinity Mobile | Stays active if you keep it, with a $25 a month charge per account once home services end |
| Device payment plan | Balance due on the final bill if you cancel everything |
| Rented equipment | Charged on the final bill until Xfinity receives it |
If your comcast.net address is the login for your bank or other accounts, move them to a new address. Closed inactive mailboxes cannot be recovered, so export what you need at export.xfinity.com.
Cancelling one service and closing the account are different outcomes, and a forgotten Mobile line or add-on keeps the account open.
| Cancel one service | Cancel all services | |
| Account stays open | Yes | Closed after the final bill is paid |
| Bundle discounts | May be lost on the remaining services | Not relevant |
| Xfinity Mobile | Can stay, possibly at a higher price | Port your number first or it is lost |
| Device payments | Can continue monthly | Remaining balance due in full |
| Comcast.net email | Unaffected | Kept only under the activity rules |
| Reversible | Yes, add the service back | Yes, but as a new customer at current prices |
Because Xfinity prorates to the disconnect date, cancelling mid-cycle after paying in advance can leave you in credit. Refunds show as a negative amount on the final statement and are then paid out:
For a charge you think is wrong, contact Xfinity with your return receipt before disputing it with your bank.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| A full monthly bill after cancelling | The regular bill was issued before the disconnect; the final bill follows | Wait for the final bill, which should credit the unused days |
| Unreturned equipment charge | A device, remote or cord was not logged as received | Send the serial number receipt; charges are reversed once the device is received |
| Early termination fee you did not expect | An older minimum term agreement was still running | Ask for the agreement end date; a reversal is possible if you restart service within 90 days |
| Mobile bill went up | The internet discount or free line ended with the internet | Port the lines to a new carrier or accept the standalone price |
| Still charged for Netflix or Peacock | It was billed directly, not through Xfinity | Cancel on that service’s own account page |
| Service still active after the date | The cancellation was never logged | Call with your confirmation number and ask for a back-dated disconnect |
Call 1-800-XFINITY (1-800-934-6489), schedule a callback at xfinity.com/cancel or visit an Xfinity Store. Then return your equipment.
1-800-934-6489, also written 1-800-XFINITY. Tell the automated assistant you want to cancel service.
Not for standard postpaid internet, and the chat assistant cannot disconnect you. NOW prepaid internet is the exception and can be cancelled in the NOW portal.
Go to an Xfinity Store, where you can cancel and return your equipment in one visit. The scheduled call option also saves you waiting on hold.
At any Xfinity Store or UPS Store, or by printing a prepaid UPS label at xfinity.com/returns. Keep the receipt with the serial numbers.
Yes. Charges are prorated to the day of disconnection, and any credit is refunded after the account closes.
Get a transfer PIN from your Xfinity Mobile account and give it to your new carrier. The line cancels automatically once the number moves.
You can keep your comcast.net email if you signed in within 90 days before disconnecting, but you must keep signing in or it closes for inactivity.
