Short answer: go to tv.youtube.com in a browser (or open the YouTube TV app), select your profile photo, then Settings, then Membership, then Manage, then Cancel membership, and confirm. Do it before your next billing date, which is shown on the same Membership screen. You keep watching until the end of the period you already paid for, and your recordings expire 21 days after that. If you pay through Google Play, Verizon, Frontier or Wow, cancel there instead.
YouTube TV is one of the easier streaming services to leave. There is no contract, no cancellation fee and no phone call required. What trips people up is everything around the cancel button: a Sunday Ticket renewal that charges separately, a pause that quietly restarts billing months later, a membership billed by a phone or internet provider, or the simple mix-up between YouTube TV and YouTube Premium.
This guide covers every route and every edge case: the web and app steps, Google Play and partner billing, the iPhone situation, cancelling only an add-on or NFL Sunday Ticket, the free trial, family groups, the pause option, what happens to your DVR, and when YouTube will actually refund you.
Most YouTube TV members pay Google directly, but not all of them. Look at the charge on your card or bill before you start, because the place you cancel follows the company that bills you.
| What your statement says | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
| GOOGLE *YouTube TV or GOOGLE *YouTubeTV | Google, directly | tv.youtube.com or the YouTube TV app, Settings, then Membership |
| GOOGLE *YouTube TV, with the purchase listed in your Play Store subscriptions | Google Play | Play Store, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions |
| A line item on your Verizon, Frontier or Wow bill | An integrated billing partner | The provider’s account page or support line |
| APPLE.COM/BILL | Apple (only for very old sign-ups, or a different service) | iPhone Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions |
| GOOGLE *YouTube Premium or YouTube Music | Google, but for a different product | youtube.com, then Your Premium benefits or Purchases and memberships |
If you see two separate Google charges in the same month, you may be paying for YouTube TV and YouTube Premium at the same time. They are different subscriptions and cancelling one does not touch the other. There is a section on that further down.
The full YouTube TV Base Plan costs $82.99 a month plus tax in the US. That price took effect on 12 December 2024 for direct and Google Play subscribers, and it still applies in 2026. In early 2026 YouTube TV also started rolling out cheaper genre plans, called YouTube TV Plans, for people who only want sports, news or entertainment. Prices below are as listed at launch; the figure on your own Membership screen is the one that counts.
| Plan | US price | What it is | Renews |
| Base Plan | $82.99 a month plus tax | The full lineup of 100+ channels | Monthly until cancelled or paused |
| Sports Plan | $64.99 a month (launch offer of $54.99 for new members) | Broadcast networks plus ESPN and other sports channels | Monthly |
| Entertainment Plan | $54.99 a month | Entertainment-focused channels | Monthly |
| Add-ons (Sports Plus, 4K Plus, premium networks) | Varies by add-on | Extra channels on top of a plan | Monthly, billed with your plan |
| NFL Sunday Ticket | Seasonal price, set each year | Out-of-market NFL Sunday games | Auto-renews for the next season |
| Free trial | $0 for the length of the offer | Base channels for new members | Converts to paid automatically |
If the price is the reason you are leaving, check whether one of the newer genre plans covers what you actually watch. Switching plans is done from the same Membership screen and keeps your account, library and recordings in place.
YouTube TV bills monthly on the same date each month. Cancel any time before that date and the next charge does not happen. You keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for, so there is no benefit in waiting until the last day, and some risk: a cancellation finished late at night on your billing date can land after the charge has already gone through.
A browser is the most reliable route, because every billing option and add-on is visible there. It works on a laptop, desktop or a phone browser.
On Android phones and tablets the YouTube TV app has the same controls as the website.
If you subscribed through Google Play, the app may send you to the Play Store to finish. That is expected; follow the Google Play steps below.
This is where many people get stuck. They open iPhone Settings, tap Subscriptions, and YouTube TV is not there. That is normal. YouTube TV stopped accepting payment through Apple in-app purchases in March 2020 and moved every Apple-billed subscriber to Google billing. Today, almost every iPhone user pays Google, so you cancel with Google, not Apple.
If you do see an APPLE.COM/BILL charge you think is YouTube TV, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and check what is actually listed. It is far more likely to be YouTube Premium, YouTube Music or another app than YouTube TV itself. Anything billed by Apple is cancelled and refunded through Apple.
Some Android users signed up through Google Play billing. These subscriptions are charged the same $82.99 Base Plan price but are managed in the Play Store.
Note that some add-ons are not sold through the Android app at all, so if you added a network later through a browser, check the Membership page at tv.youtube.com afterwards to make sure nothing is still active.
YouTube TV calls these integrated billing partners. If the charge appears on your phone or internet bill, the partner holds the billing relationship and YouTube cannot cancel or refund it for you. Sign in to your provider’s account, find the YouTube TV line under your add-ons or services, and remove it there, or call the provider. Do this before your provider’s billing cycle closes, which is often a different date from the one shown in YouTube TV.
YouTube TV on a smart TV, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV or game console is a player, not a billing account. Deleting the app or removing the channel from your Roku does not cancel anything, and the TV apps do not always show the full Membership controls. The fix is simple: pick up your phone or laptop, go to tv.youtube.com, and cancel there with the steps above. The TV will stop playing YouTube TV once your paid period ends.
You do not have to cancel your whole membership to drop an extra. Add-ons such as Sports Plus, 4K Plus or a premium movie network can be removed on their own, and NFL Sunday Ticket has its own renewal you can switch off.
Three Sunday Ticket rules are worth knowing:
Cancelling your whole YouTube TV membership also cancels the Sunday Ticket renewal, so you do not need to do both.
New members usually get a free trial, and its length varies with the offer you signed up under, so do not count days yourself. Read the end date on the Membership screen. At the end of the trial it converts to your chosen paid plan automatically, using the payment details you entered at sign-up.
Cancelling early costs you nothing: Google says access continues until the end of your free trial period, so you can cancel on day one and still use the whole trial. Switching plans during a trial does not restart it, so do not expect extra free days by changing your plan.
If you only want YouTube TV for football season or are travelling for a few months, pausing can make more sense than cancelling. You choose a pause length from 4 weeks up to 6 months, and you are not billed while paused.
| Pause | Cancel | |
| When it starts | At the end of your current billing cycle | At the end of your current billing cycle |
| Can you watch? | No, YouTube TV cannot be accessed while paused | No, after your paid period ends |
| New recordings | None while paused | None |
| Existing recordings | Saved until the pause ends | Expire 21 days after access ends |
| Billing restarts | Automatically, at your normal monthly price | Only if you sign up again |
| Can you extend it? | No, but you can resume and pause again | Not applicable |
The catch is the automatic restart. A six month pause that ends while you are not paying attention brings back the full monthly charge, and the restart date becomes your new billing date. If you are not sure you will come back, cancel instead; your preferences are saved either way.
A YouTube TV membership can be shared with up to 5 other people in the same household through a family group, so 6 accounts in total. Only the family manager, the person who pays, can make membership decisions, which includes cancelling and pausing.
If you are a member and see a YouTube TV charge on your own card, you are not on the family plan. You have a separate membership and can cancel it yourself.
The names cause a lot of wrong cancellations. They are two separate products, billed separately, and managed in different places.
| YouTube TV | YouTube Premium | |
| What it is | Live TV streaming: broadcast and cable channels plus cloud DVR | Ad-free regular YouTube, background play, downloads and YouTube Music |
| Where you watch | The YouTube TV app or tv.youtube.com | The normal YouTube app and youtube.com |
| Where to cancel | tv.youtube.com, then Settings, then Membership | youtube.com, then Purchases and memberships (or Apple or Google Play if billed there) |
| Billed through Apple? | No, not since 2020 | Possible, if bought in the iPhone app |
Cancelling one does not cancel the other, and YouTube TV does not include YouTube Premium. If you want rid of both, our guide to cancelling YouTube Premium covers the second one.
YouTube TV does not have a separate account to delete. It runs on your Google Account, so the only way to remove it entirely is to delete that Google Account, which is almost never what people want.
| Cancel YouTube TV | Delete Google Account | |
| Stops the YouTube TV charge | Yes | Yes, but cancel first to be safe |
| Keeps Gmail, Drive, Photos and regular YouTube | Yes | No, all of it is deleted |
| Keeps DVR recordings | For 21 days after access ends | No |
| Partner-billed subscription (Verizon, Frontier, Wow) | Still needs cancelling with the provider | Still needs cancelling with the provider |
| Reversible | Yes, rejoin any time | Only during a short recovery window |
| Where to do it | tv.youtube.com, Settings, then Membership | Google Account, Data and privacy, then Delete your Google Account |
Usually not for simply changing your mind. Google’s YouTube TV help centre says it does not give refunds or credits for partial billing periods, so cancelling halfway through a month does not return the unused half. Instead you keep access until the period ends.
Refunds are available in these situations:
Two things to know before you ask. If a refund is granted, you lose access to YouTube TV immediately rather than at the end of the period. And card refunds typically take 3 to 5 business days, up to 10 depending on your bank. NFL Sunday Ticket renewal payments are non-refundable once charged.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| Membership page still shows a next billing date | You left before the final Cancel confirmation | Repeat the steps until the page shows an end date instead |
| No Cancel or Manage option at all | You are a family member, or a partner bills you | Ask the family manager, or cancel with Verizon, Frontier or Wow |
| YouTube TV not in iPhone Subscriptions | Google bills you, not Apple | Cancel at tv.youtube.com in Safari |
| Charged months after a pause | The pause ended and billing restarted automatically | Cancel now; refunds for this are not guaranteed |
| A large charge in late summer | NFL Sunday Ticket renewed for the new season | Cancel the Sunday Ticket renewal before next season; the charge itself is non-refundable |
| Still charged after cancelling YouTube TV | The charge is YouTube Premium or YouTube Music | Check youtube.com, then Purchases and memberships |
| Charged after the free trial | The trial converted to a paid plan | Cancel now; access continues to the end of the paid month |
| Charged on two cards | Two Google Accounts each have a membership | Sign in to each account and check Membership |
If none of these fits, contact YouTube TV support through the help centre in your browser and have your cancellation email and the date and amount of the charge ready.
Go to tv.youtube.com, select your profile photo, then Settings, then Membership, then Manage, then Cancel membership, and confirm. The same path works in the Android app.
You cannot reliably cancel from the TV app, and deleting the app does nothing. Use a phone or computer browser at tv.youtube.com instead.
The full Base Plan is $82.99 a month plus tax. Cheaper genre plans, such as the Sports Plan and Entertainment Plan, launched in early 2026.
Yes. Access continues until the end of the free trial period, so cancelling early does not cost you any free days.
Not for partial months. Refunds are considered when the service is defective or does not perform as stated, and a refund ends your access immediately.
In Settings, then Membership, select Manage next to NFL Sunday Ticket, then Cancel, then Yes, cancel. Do it before the renewal date, because the renewal is non-refundable.
Yes, for 4 weeks up to 6 months. Billing restarts automatically at the normal price when the pause ends.
They stay available until your access ends and then expire 21 days later unless you rejoin.
No. Only the family manager who pays can cancel or pause. A member can leave the family group instead.
No. They are separate subscriptions. YouTube Premium is cancelled from youtube.com, or from Apple or Google Play if it was bought there.
Our main guide on how to cancel subscriptions online covers the general approach. If you are trimming your streaming bills, these are the services people most often cancel alongside YouTube TV:
