Short answer: sign in at espn.com in a browser, tap your profile picture, then Account, then Manage Subscription, select your ESPN Select (the old ESPN+) or ESPN Unlimited plan and tap Cancel, then confirm. Do it before 11:59 p.m. Eastern on the day before your next billing date. If you pay through a Disney+ bundle, cancel on disneyplus.com instead; if Apple, Google, Roku or Amazon bills you, cancel there.
Cancelling ESPN Plus got more confusing in 2025. ESPN+ is now called ESPN Select, a second and pricier tier called ESPN Unlimited sits above it, and four in five Unlimited subscribers get it inside a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu. The cancel button lives in a different place depending on which of those you have and who takes your money.
This guide covers every route: cancelling directly on ESPN, the Disney bundle, Apple, Google Play, Roku and Amazon billing, the ESPN and FOX One bundle, annual plans, pay-per-view purchases, and the difference between cancelling your subscription and deleting your account.
ESPN’s own help centre is blunt about this: if a third party bills you, ESPN cannot cancel it for you. Find the charge on your card statement and match it here.
| What your statement says | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
| A charge naming ESPN or ESPN Plus | ESPN directly (through your MyDisney login) | espn.com, profile, Account, Manage Subscription |
| A charge naming Disney Plus, for a bundle | Disney+ | disneyplus.com, profile, Account, your bundle |
| APPLE.COM/BILL | Apple App Store | iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions |
| GOOGLE *ESPN or GOOGLE *Disney | Google Play | Play Store, Payments and subscriptions |
| ROKU | Roku | my.roku.com or the Star button on the Roku remote |
| AMAZON or Prime Video | Amazon | Amazon’s Memberships and Subscriptions page |
| FOX One | FOX, for an ESPN and FOX One bundle bought from FOX | Your FOX One account |
| Your cable, satellite or live TV bill | Xfinity, YouTube TV, Spectrum or another provider | The provider; there is nothing to cancel with ESPN |
| Verizon or another phone or internet bill | A carrier perk | Your carrier account |
On 21 August 2025 ESPN launched its own direct-to-consumer streaming service with two tiers. Existing ESPN+ subscribers were moved automatically onto the lower tier, ESPN Select, at the same price they were already paying. The ESPN+ name still turns up in some apps, menus and billing descriptions, which is why so many people still search for how to cancel ESPN Plus.
| ESPN Select | ESPN Unlimited | |
| What it replaced | ESPN+ | Nothing; new in 2025 |
| What you get | The former ESPN+ library: thousands of live events, 30 for 30 and studio shows | Everything in Select plus live ESPN, ESPN2 and the other ESPN networks, and ESPN events on ABC |
| Cancel from | espn.com, or wherever you are billed | espn.com, or wherever you are billed |
| Cancel separately from Disney+? | Only if you pay for it on its own | Only if you pay for it on its own |
If you only want to drop from Unlimited to Select, you do not need to cancel. Use Manage Subscription on espn.com to switch plans instead, and your Select access carries on without a gap.
ESPN raised prices for the first time on 17 September 2026. These are the US list prices after that increase. Promotions and price holds vary, so the figure on your own account page is the one that counts.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Billed by |
| ESPN Select (formerly ESPN+) | $13.99 | $139.99 | ESPN or an app store |
| ESPN Unlimited | $31.99 | $319.99 | ESPN or an app store |
| Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select (with ads) | $21.99 | Not offered | Disney+ |
| Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select (no ads on Disney+ and Hulu) | $32.99 | Not offered | Disney+ |
| Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited (with ads) | $35.99 | Not offered | Disney+ or ESPN |
| Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited (no ads) | $44.99 | Not offered | Disney+ or ESPN |
| ESPN and FOX One bundle | $39.99 | Not offered | ESPN or FOX |
The rise on Select from $12.99 to $13.99 is what pushes a lot of people to cancel. If you watch a single sport for one season, a monthly plan you cancel at the end of it is usually cheaper than keeping Select all year.
ESPN, Disney+ and Hulu share one subscriber agreement, and it sets a hard cutoff: you must cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your next billing date. Cancel on the billing date itself and that month’s charge has already gone through.
Paid subscriptions keep working until the end of the period you already paid for, so there is no penalty for cancelling early. Cancel the moment you decide, not on the last day.
This is the route for anyone billed by ESPN directly, which covers most people who signed up on espn.com. Use a computer or a mobile browser; the TV apps do not offer a cancel button.
If there is no Cancel option, or no subscription shows at all, someone else is billing you. Go back to the table at the top.
If you subscribed inside the ESPN app on an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, Apple holds the subscription. The charge reads APPLE.COM/BILL, and ESPN cannot end it.
On an Apple TV, go to Settings, then Users and Accounts, then your account, then Subscriptions. Deleting the ESPN app does not cancel anything, and Apple, not ESPN, handles any refund request.
The same applies to Google TV and Android TV devices, which bill through the same Google account. Uninstalling the app leaves the subscription running. If ESPN is not listed in Play, you are billed directly and should use the website route.
To cancel an ESPN subscription on Roku, it has to have been bought through Roku. If you signed up on espn.com and only watch on a Roku, use the website route instead.
Amazon Fire TV and Prime Video: if Amazon bills you, ESPN cannot process the cancellation. Sign in to Amazon, open Memberships and Subscriptions (or Prime Video Channels in your Prime Video settings) and cancel ESPN there.
Smart TVs, Xbox, PlayStation and other devices: these almost always use your ESPN or Disney billing rather than their own store, so cancel on espn.com or disneyplus.com from a phone or computer.
This is where most people get stuck. The bundle is one subscription, usually managed by Disney+, so the ESPN website may show your access but no Cancel button. ESPN’s own help pages point bundle subscribers to the Disney+ Help Center.
You cannot remove ESPN from the bundle and keep paying the bundle price for the rest. Cancelling the bundle ends Disney+, Hulu and ESPN on the same date. To keep Disney+ or Hulu without ESPN, switch to a plan without ESPN rather than cancelling, and note that changing plan ends any promotion or price hold you had. Our guides on how to cancel Disney Plus and how to cancel Hulu cover the plan switch in detail.
If you subscribed to the bundle through Hulu + Live TV, the ESPN part comes with your live TV plan. ESPN directs those subscribers to Hulu’s help centre, and dropping ESPN means changing or cancelling the Hulu + Live TV plan itself.
| How you get ESPN | How to stop paying |
| ESPN and FOX One bundle bought on espn.com | espn.com, Manage My Account, Manage with MyDisney, select the plan, Cancel. There is no pause option. |
| ESPN and FOX One bundle bought from FOX | Cancel in your FOX One account; ESPN cannot touch it. |
| ESPN Unlimited included with Xfinity, YouTube TV, Spectrum, DirecTV or Cox | Nothing to cancel with ESPN. Change your TV package with the provider. |
| Disney+, Hulu and ESPN perk on Verizon | Remove the perk in your Verizon account. |
| ESPN Unlimited trial with MLB.TV | Remove ESPN Unlimited in Manage Subscription on espn.com. MLB.TV is not cancelled unless you choose both. |
Live TV services work the same way. If you are leaving one of them for ESPN, or ESPN for one of them, our guides to cancelling Fubo and cancelling YouTube TV cover those deadlines.
Both ESPN Select ($139.99) and ESPN Unlimited ($319.99) come as annual plans, and the rules for them catch people out.
Not as a standing offer. ESPN Select has no regular free trial, and ESPN states that its Disney+, Hulu and ESPN bundles currently have no free trial either. Trials do appear through partners, most notably a one-month ESPN Unlimited trial for MLB.TV subscribers.
If you are on a trial, two things matter. First, cancel before it converts, using the same Manage Subscription page. Second, expect to lose access immediately: ESPN’s help pages say removing a trial ends ESPN straight away, and the subscriber agreement says cancellations on a free trial or promotional credit may take effect at once.
Pay-per-view events are one-time purchases, separate from your subscription. The subscriber agreement says they are charged at the time of purchase, and cancelling ESPN Select or Unlimited does not refund them. In practice, PPV buys are treated as final once the event has been made available to you.
For years UFC numbered events were the main reason people bought ESPN+, because you needed an active subscription to buy the PPV. That ended with the 2026 UFC deal: UFC moved to Paramount+ in the US and dropped the pay-per-view model. If you only kept ESPN+ for UFC, there is no longer a reason to keep it. Our guide to cancelling Paramount Plus covers the other side of that switch.
If a PPV stream failed and you could not watch the event you paid for, contact ESPN support through Contact Support in the ESPN app settings. After past outages ESPN has offered replays rather than refunds, so ask specifically for a refund if that is what you want.
Searching for how to delete an ESPN account usually means someone wants the charges to stop. Cancelling does that. Deleting is a much bigger step, because ESPN uses your MyDisney login, the same one behind Disney+ and Hulu.
| Cancel subscription | Delete account | |
| Stops ESPN charges | Yes, from the next billing date | Only if you cancel first |
| Keeps the free ESPN app, scores and fantasy | Yes | No |
| Affects Disney+ and Hulu | Only if you cancel a bundle | Yes, the login is shared across Disney services |
| Stops app store billing | Only if you cancel in that store | No, the store keeps charging |
| Reversible | Yes, resubscribe any time | No |
| Where to do it | espn.com, Account, Manage Subscription | Through Disney’s privacy and account help pages |
If you do want the account gone, cancel every paid plan first, including any Apple, Google, Roku or Amazon subscription, and wait for the confirmation. Deleting the account does not reach into an app store, so a store subscription would keep charging with no account to watch it on.
Usually not. ESPN’s help centre says it does not offer refunds or credits for partially used billing periods, and the shared subscriber agreement says the same while leaving room for case-by-case exceptions at Disney’s discretion. There are a few situations where it is worth asking:
Leave a chargeback with your bank as the last resort. It can lock the account, and support usually resolves a documented cancellation faster.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| No Cancel button on espn.com | A bundle, app store or partner bills you | Check the table at the top and cancel where the billing lives |
| Subscription shows on ESPN but not on Disney+ | Signed in with a different MyDisney email | Search your inbox for ESPN or Disney receipts to find the right login |
| Charged the day you cancelled | Cancelled on the billing date, after the 11:59 p.m. ET cutoff | The cancellation still stops the next charge; ask support about the current one |
| Still charged after deleting the app | Deleting an app does not cancel a subscription | Cancel in the store or on espn.com |
| Disney+ and Hulu stopped too | You cancelled a bundle | Resubscribe to the standalone plan you want to keep |
| MLB.TV or another add-on still charging | Add-ons cancel separately | Cancel each one in Manage Subscription |
| ESPN lost as soon as you cancelled | You were on a trial or promotional credit | Expected; trials can end immediately |
| Higher charge than you expected | The September 2026 price increase or an expired promotion | Check the plan price on your account page and switch to a cheaper tier if you want to stay |
If none of these fits, open the ESPN app, go to Settings and tap Contact Support to start a chat, with your cancellation screenshot ready.
Sign in at espn.com, select your profile picture, then Account, then Manage Subscription, choose the plan and select Cancel. Bundles cancel on disneyplus.com, and app store subscriptions cancel in that store.
The same way as ESPN Select: Manage Subscription on espn.com. To keep cheaper access, switch to ESPN Select there instead of cancelling.
ESPN Select is the old ESPN+ library at $13.99 a month. ESPN Unlimited adds the live ESPN TV networks and costs $31.99 a month.
ESPN Plus, now ESPN Select, is $13.99 a month or $139.99 a year in the US after the September 2026 price increase.
Before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your billing date. Earlier is fine; you keep access until the period ends.
Yes, but not by cancelling the bundle. Switch plan on disneyplus.com to a Disney+ and Hulu option without ESPN.
If Roku bills you, cancel at my.roku.com under Manage your subscriptions, or press the Star button on the ESPN channel and choose Manage subscription. If not, cancel on espn.com.
No. Billing continues until you cancel on espn.com, disneyplus.com or in the app store that bills you.
Generally not. PPV events are one-time purchases charged at checkout, and cancelling your subscription does not refund them. Contact support if the stream failed.
No ESPN cancellation is needed. ESPN Unlimited comes with your provider package, so any change, credit or refund goes through YouTube TV or your provider.
