Short answer: sign in at philo.com, click your profile avatar, choose Account, click Cancel my subscription, then click Complete cancellation. Do it before your next billing date, which is shown on the same Account page. If there is no cancel button, Amazon, Apple, Google, Roku, Samsung or Vizio is billing you, and you cancel there instead.
Philo is one of the cheapest live TV services in the US, and it is also one of the easier ones to leave. The catch is that Philo can be billed by seven different companies, and Philo itself can only cancel the subscriptions it bills. If you signed up on a Roku, a Fire TV stick or an iPhone, the cancel button you are looking for is not on philo.com at all.
This guide covers every route, the free trial, add-ons such as STARZ, MGM+ and AMC+, what happens to your DVR recordings, why there is no real pause option, Philo’s no refund policy and what to do if you paid with a prepaid or gift card.
Where you cancel depends on where you subscribed. Check the charge on your bank or card statement before you do anything else.
| What your statement says | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
| PHILO or PHILO.COM | Philo directly | philo.com, then Account, then Cancel my subscription |
| Amazon, AMZN Digital or Amazon Appstore | Amazon | amazon.com/appstoresubscriptions, then Turn off auto-renewal |
| APPLE.COM/BILL | Apple | iPhone, iPad or Apple TV Settings, then Subscriptions |
| GOOGLE *Philo | Google Play | Play Store, then Payments and subscriptions |
| ROKU or ROKU INC | Roku | Star button on the Philo app, or my.roku.com |
| SAMSUNG | Samsung | Samsung account, then Purchase History, then Subscriptions |
| WALMART or VIZIO | Vizio, through a Walmart account | Walmart account, then Subscriptions and Purchases |
Philo changed its line-up in March 2026. The old single plan was replaced with two paid plans and a free tier. Philo’s help centre lists these US prices, plus taxes where applicable:
| Plan | US price | What you get | Free trial |
| Essential | $25 a month | 70+ live channels, the Free Channels, on-demand library, DVR kept for 1 year | 7 days for new customers |
| Bundle+ | $33 a month | Everything in Essential plus ad-supported AMC+, HBO Max Basic with Ads and ad-supported discovery+ | None |
| Free Channels | $0 | 100+ ad-supported free channels, select recordings kept for 30 days | Not needed, no card required |
Two things affect what you actually pay. First, Philo says subscribing through a third-party biller such as Amazon, Apple, Google, Roku, Samsung or Vizio may add a surcharge, so the same plan can cost more on a TV than on philo.com. Second, longtime members on an older legacy plan may see a different price on their Account page. The figure on your own Account page is the one that counts.
If you only want to cut the bill rather than leave, switching from Bundle+ to Essential saves $8 a month and keeps the same 70+ live channels.
Philo bills monthly on the date you first subscribed. Start on the 17th and you are charged on the 17th of every month; start on the 31st and you are charged on the last day of shorter months. Your billing date sits in the Your Philo Subscription section of the Account page on philo.com.
This is the route for anyone Philo bills directly, which includes most people who signed up in a web browser. You cannot cancel a Philo-billed subscription from inside the TV apps, so use a computer or a phone browser.
Cancelling the base plan also ends any add-ons on the account, so you do not need to remove STARZ or MGM+ separately first.
If you subscribed through the Philo channel on a Roku, Roku holds the subscription and the charge reads ROKU on your statement.
If you do not have the TV handy, sign in at my.roku.com, open Manage your subscriptions, and unsubscribe from Philo there. Uninstalling the Philo app from the Roku does not cancel anything.
Subscriptions started on a Fire TV stick or Fire tablet are billed through the Amazon Appstore.
If the charge reads APPLE.COM/BILL, Apple bills you and only Apple can stop it.
If Philo is missing from the list, you are probably signed in with a different Apple Account from the one you subscribed with, or Philo is billed somewhere else entirely. Go back to the statement check at the top.
Subscriptions bought through the Philo app on an Android phone, Google TV or Chromecast with Google TV are billed by Google Play.
You can do the same on a computer at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Make sure you are signed in to the Google account that paid for Philo.
Philo brought back its free trial in March 2026, but only on the Essential plan. New customers get 7 days; Bundle+ has no trial at all, so choosing Bundle+ at sign-up means you are charged straight away.
To cancel the free trial, use exactly the same steps as a paid subscription, through whichever company you signed up with.
Philo sells premium add-ons on top of Essential and Bundle+. These are the current add-on prices listed in Philo’s help centre:
| Add-on | Monthly price |
| STARZ | $12 |
| MGM+ | $8 |
| AMC+ ad-free upgrade (Bundle+ includes ad-supported AMC+) | $4 |
| HBO Max Standard | $13 |
| Hallmark+ | $8.99 |
| discovery+ ad-free | $8 |
| ALLBLK | $7 |
| Movies and More | $3 |
To drop one add-on but keep Philo:
You keep watching the add-on until the end of your trial or current billing cycle. Add-ons are billed on the same monthly invoice as your base plan, and when you add one mid-cycle Philo charges a prorated amount up to your next billing date. Removing one does not trigger a prorated refund in the other direction.
Add-ons only exist on Philo billing. If Roku, Amazon or another store bills you, you cannot have Philo add-ons until you switch to Philo billing, so a STARZ charge reading STARZ or ROKU on your statement is probably a separate subscription bought outside Philo. Cancel it where it was bought.
This is the question people most often get stuck on, so check it before you cancel. On Essential and Bundle+, Philo’s unlimited DVR keeps recordings for a year. Legacy plans keep them for 30 days. The Free Channels tier can only save select free content, and keeps it for 30 days.
If you have a season half watched, the cleanest plan is to cancel now, which locks in no further charges, and then finish the recordings before the end date shown on your Account page.
Not in the way YouTube TV or Sling allow. Philo’s help centre has no pause or hold option. What it offers instead works almost as well for a seasonal break:
The difference from a true pause is that you lose your DVR library and any free trial eligibility, and a reactivation starts a new billing date. If you only need a cheaper month, downgrading from Bundle+ to Essential is the other option.
Philo’s list of accepted payment methods for direct billing is Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express cards, bank payments through Link, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Cash App. Gift cards are not on that list, and Philo’s help centre does not describe any Philo gift card, so treat a Philo gift card code offered by a third-party site with suspicion.
Gift card balances can still pay for Philo indirectly. An Apple, Google Play or Amazon gift card balance can cover a Philo subscription billed through that store, and a prepaid Visa or Mastercard may work at checkout if it supports recurring payments. Either way, the rules are the same:
| Item | After you cancel |
| Live channels and on-demand library | Available until the end of the paid cycle, then removed |
| Add-ons such as STARZ and MGM+ | End with the base plan, after the current cycle |
| Bundle+ extras (HBO Max, discovery+, AMC+) | Access through Philo ends with the plan |
| DVR recordings from paid channels | Watchable until the end date; plan on losing them after that |
| Free Channels | You are moved to them automatically, free |
| Your Philo account | Stays open and can be reactivated at any time |
| Future charges | None from Philo, as long as you cancelled with the right biller |
If you used Bundle+ to get HBO Max, remember that the HBO Max access was part of Philo. To keep watching HBO Max you need a separate subscription; our HBO Max guide covers how that billing works.
Philo treats these as two separate actions. Most people only need the first.
| Cancel your subscription | Delete your account | |
| Stops future charges | Yes | Yes, but cancel any third-party billing first |
| Keeps access to the end of the cycle | Yes | No, deletion is immediate |
| Free Channels access | Yes | No |
| Can reactivate the same account | Yes, at any time | No, you would need a new account |
| How to do it | philo.com Account page, or your app store | Contact Philo Support; there is no self-service delete button |
To delete your Philo account, cancel the subscription first, wait for the confirmation, then contact Philo Support and ask for account deletion. Philo says it may keep some information for legal, accounting and auditing purposes, and backups may hold data for a while afterwards. Deleting the Philo account does not cancel a subscription that Apple, Google, Roku or Amazon bills, which is why the order matters.
Generally no. Philo states that it has a no refund policy: cancelling stops future charges, but you will not get money back for the month already billed, and there are no partial-month refunds for cancelling mid-cycle. That is why access continues to the end of the cycle; you get what you paid for, and nothing more comes back.
There are a few situations where it is still worth asking:
A bank chargeback is a last resort. It does not cancel the subscription, and the store or Philo may suspend the account while the dispute runs.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| No Cancel my subscription link on philo.com | Amazon, Apple, Google, Roku, Samsung or Vizio bills you | Cancel with that company (see the table at the top) |
| Account page still shows a renewal date | You stopped on the offer screen and never clicked Complete cancellation | Repeat the steps until a final billing day appears |
| Charged after the 7-day trial | The trial converted to Essential at $25 | Cancel now; access runs to the end of the month you paid for |
| A $1 charge you did not expect | Philo’s card verification hold | Wait; it is not collected and usually drops off within days |
| Still charged for STARZ or MGM+ | The add-on was bought directly from STARZ, MGM+ or an app store | Check your app store and smart TV subscriptions |
| Charged months after cancelling | A second Philo account on another email or phone number | Sign in with each email and number you use and check the Account page |
| Price higher than $25 or $33 | Third-party biller surcharge, taxes or a legacy plan | Switch to Philo billing on philo.com, or check your plan on the Account page |
Sign in at philo.com, click your profile avatar, choose Account, click Cancel my subscription, then Complete cancellation. If a store or TV maker bills you, cancel there instead.
Highlight the Philo app on the Roku home screen, press the star button, choose Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription twice. You can also do it at my.roku.com.
Yes, 7 days for new customers on the Essential plan. Bundle+ has no free trial.
Essential is $25 a month and Bundle+ is $33 a month, plus taxes where applicable. Subscribing through a third-party biller may add a surcharge.
Yes. If Philo bills you, open philo.com in your phone’s browser and use the Account page. If Apple or Google bills you, cancel in iPhone Settings or the Play Store.
No. Philo has a no refund policy and does not prorate. You keep access until the end of the cycle you paid for.
Cancel the subscription first, then contact Philo Support and ask them to delete the account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
You can watch them until your paid cycle ends. After that, recordings from paid channels should be treated as lost, so finish anything important first.
Philo does not list its own gift cards among accepted payments. An Apple, Google Play or Amazon gift card balance can pay for Philo billed through that store.
Yes. Once your paid plan ends you are moved to Philo’s Free Channels, which cost nothing and need no card.
