Short answer: sign in at sling.com in a web browser, open My Account, find Your Subscription and choose Cancel Subscription, then click through the retention screens until you reach the final confirmation. Do it before your next billing date, because Sling charges a month in advance and does not refund partial months. You cannot cancel from the Sling app on a TV. If Roku, Apple, Google or Amazon bills you, cancel there instead.
Sling TV is one of the cheaper live TV services, and part of the reason is that it is built to be dropped and picked back up. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. The catch is where you do it. Most people go looking for a cancel button in the Sling app on their Roku, Fire TV or smart TV, and it is not there. Cancellation lives in your account on the Sling website, or with whichever app store took your payment.
This guide covers every route: the standard cancellation on sling.com, the Roku, Apple, Google Play and Amazon billing paths, the Pause option Sling pushes during cancellation, prepaid AirTV deals, extras and add-ons, and what Sling’s no-refund rule means for your last bill.
Sling can be paid for directly or through a device platform, and only the company that takes your money can stop the charge. Check the line on your bank or card statement first.
| What your statement says | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
| SLING TV, SLING.COM or similar | Sling directly | sling.com in a web browser, My Account |
| ROKU or ROKU FOR SLING | Roku Pay | Roku device (Star button on the Sling channel) or my.roku.com |
| APPLE.COM/BILL | Apple App Store | iPhone Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions |
| GOOGLE *Sling | Google Play | Play Store, then Payments and subscriptions |
| AMAZON or AMZN Digital | Amazon | Amazon account, Memberships and Subscriptions |
| No separate Sling charge | A bundle or partner offer | The partner that set it up, or Sling’s Help Center |
Sling’s main plans are still Orange, Blue and the combined Orange & Blue, joined by the cheaper Essentials and Select tiers. These are the starting prices Sling shows on its US site in October 2026. Sling raised prices in early 2026 and some prices now vary by ZIP code, especially Blue in markets where it carries local ABC, FOX or NBC, so the figure in your own account is the one that counts.
| Plan | Starting US price | With Sports Extra | Renews |
| Sling Orange | $45.99 a month | $56.99 a month | Monthly until cancelled |
| Sling Blue | $45.99 a month (higher in some markets) | From $56.99 a month | Monthly until cancelled |
| Sling Orange & Blue | $60.99 a month (higher in some markets) | From $75.99 a month | Monthly until cancelled |
| Sling Select | From $19.99 a month | From $30.99 a month | Monthly until cancelled |
| Sling Essentials | $19.99 a month | Varies | Monthly until cancelled |
| Day, Weekend and Week Passes | No longer sold | Not applicable | Not applicable |
Every plan is billed monthly in advance and renews automatically. Extras such as Sports Extra and News Extra sit on top of the base price and renew with it, so cancelling the base plan ends them too. If you see a lower first month on your statement, that was an introductory offer; the full price applies from month two.
Sling’s own terms are short and strict: programming fees are charged monthly in advance, and no credits or refunds are issued for partial or prepaid months after cancellation. In practice that means three things:
The simplest approach is to cancel as soon as you know you are done. Your access does not stop early, and you remove the risk of forgetting.
This is the route for anyone billed by Sling directly, which is most subscribers. Sling’s site says it plainly: cancel on Sling.com or contact the Help Center. Use a computer or a phone browser.
Sling does not take cancellations by phone as a standard route, so the website is also the fastest option. If the site throws an error, the Help Center has a contact option for exactly that situation.
This is the single biggest source of frustration in searches about Sling. The Sling app on Fire TV, Android TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Samsung, LG, Vizio and most other TVs is a player. It lets you watch, record and browse, but it does not let you change or end a subscription that Sling bills directly. There is no menu item to find, however deep you dig.
Two other things people try that do not work:
The one exception is Roku. If you subscribed through Roku Pay, the Roku device itself can turn off auto-renew, covered below.
If Sling bills you directly, cancel on your phone through a web browser rather than the Sling app:
If the mobile page is cramped, switch your browser to desktop site mode. If you originally subscribed inside the Sling app on an iPhone or Android phone and paid through Apple or Google, use the app store route in the next section.
Roku Pay subscribers are billed by Roku, so Sling’s website will not show a normal cancel option. You can cancel on the device or online.
Roku says you keep watching until the end of the billing period. If Sling does not appear in your Roku subscriptions, you are billed by Sling directly and should cancel on sling.com, even though you watch on a Roku.
Use these only if your statement shows Apple, Google or Amazon as the merchant. Sling cannot cancel a subscription that another company bills.
Each platform ends access at the end of the period it billed, and any refund request goes to that platform, not to Sling.
Sling offers a pause in the same place you cancel, and it will show it to you during the cancellation flow. It suits people who only want Sling for a sports season or the winter months.
Sling has also tested a low-cost paid pause, called Pause Extra, offered to some customers who start to cancel. When it launched it cost $5 a month and kept a few perks running while the main plan was paused, including DVR for Sling’s free channels, an included streaming add-on and a credit toward reactivation. It is a paid product, not a cancellation, so if your goal is a $0 bill, decline it and finish cancelling.
If the bill is the problem rather than Sling itself, trim before you cancel. Sports Extra, News Extra, Lifestyle and other extras, premium networks and DVR upgrades are all removable on their own.
You can also switch between Orange, Blue and Orange & Blue, or step down to Select or Essentials. Sling’s help centre explains how adding or removing extras affects billing; check the summary on screen before you confirm, as changes and any price difference are shown there.
Prepaid offers are where cancelling Sling costs people the most, because the no-refund rule covers prepaid months as well as partial ones.
| Item | After you cancel |
| Live channels on your plan | Available until the end of the paid period, then removed |
| Extras and premium add-ons | End with the base plan |
| Cloud DVR recordings | No longer playable once the plan ends; check Sling’s help centre before you leave if a recording matters |
| Sling Freestream free channels | Still available with a free Sling account |
| Your Sling account and login | Kept, so you can restart later |
| Saved payment method | Stays on file unless you remove it |
Restarting is easy: sign in at sling.com and pick a plan. Returning customers often see win-back discounts within a few weeks of cancelling, which is worth knowing if you plan to come back for a particular season.
Most people searching for how to cancel a Sling account only need to cancel the subscription. Closing the account entirely is a separate request.
| Cancel subscription | Close or delete account | |
| Stops the monthly charge | Yes | Yes, but cancel the subscription first |
| Keeps Sling Freestream access | Yes | No |
| Keeps your login for restarting | Yes | No |
| Personal data removed | No | Yes, on request |
| How to do it | sling.com, My Account, Cancel Subscription | Contact Sling through its Help Center or privacy request page |
If you want the account gone, cancel first and wait for the confirmation email, so no billing is left running on an account you can no longer sign in to.
As a rule, no. Sling states that no credits or refunds are issued for partial or prepaid months after cancellation. Cancel on day three of a monthly cycle and you keep the service for the rest of the month, but you do not get the unused days back. There are a few situations worth raising with support anyway:
Treat a card chargeback as the last step, after support has had a chance to fix it. Keep your cancellation confirmation; it is the one document that settles most billing disputes quickly.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| No cancel option in the TV app | TV apps do not handle billing | Cancel at sling.com in a browser |
| No Cancel Subscription link on sling.com | Roku, Apple, Google or Amazon bills you, or you are signed in to the wrong account | Check your statement, then cancel with that biller or sign in with your other email |
| My Account still shows a next bill date | You stopped on a retention or offer screen | Repeat the steps and click through to the final confirmation |
| Charged the day you cancelled | The new month was billed before you cancelled | Access runs to the end of that month; contact support only if you cancelled first |
| Charged after a pause | The pause ended and billing resumed | Cancel now; next time cancel instead of pausing |
| Charged after deleting the app | Deleting the app does not cancel | Cancel in your account or with the app store |
| Error messages on the cancel page | Browser or site issue | Try another browser or a private window, then use the Help Center contact option |
Sign in at sling.com, open My Account, choose Cancel Subscription under Your Subscription, and confirm on the final screen. If Roku, Apple, Google or Amazon bills you, cancel with them instead.
Yes. There is no contract or cancellation fee, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. You will not get money back for the unused part of the month.
Sling directs customers to cancel on sling.com, and its Help Center is where you contact support if the website does not work. Be wary of third-party sites listing a “Sling cancellation number”; use only contact details shown in Sling’s own Help Center.
Open a web browser on the phone, sign in at sling.com and cancel from My Account. The Sling app itself does not let you cancel a Sling-billed subscription.
No. You keep being charged until you cancel in your Sling account or with the platform that bills you.
No. Sling charges monthly in advance and does not credit or refund partial or prepaid months. You keep watching until the period ends.
Not as of October 2026. Sling’s site says Sling Passes are no longer available, so the monthly plans are the only paid options.
Cancel the subscription first, then ask Sling through its Help Center to close the account or delete your data. Cancelling alone keeps your login for free channels and restarting.
Yes. The device is yours. Prepaid months that came with the deal are not refunded, and the AirTV’s Sling guide integration needs an active Sling account to show local channels inside Sling.
